Glenn Public School Eagle Post
December 2024
Superintendent's Nest
Welcome to the last month of 2024! Time flies when you are learning and having fun! Living in Michigan and near the lakeshore gives our students some unique opportunities. Some of these opportunities include Wau-ke-na Nature Preserve, Lake Michigan, Outdoor Discovery Center, local libraries, and local farm markets, just to name a few resources we have access to and utilize.
The Giving Tree for the month of December will benefit Ladders of Hope Food Pantry in Fennville. We are collecting canned goods to donate to the pantry. Donations are accepted every school day, 7:00 am -5:30 pm, during the month of December. Community service is part of our vision and strategic plan at Glenn School. We will continue to donate to local nonprofits throughout the school year.
Mrs. Jesser and I would like to invite all students, parents, family members, and community members to the first-ever Hour of Code at our school! This will take place Friday, December 13th, from 5-7 pm. We will offer dinner across the street at the church from 5-6 pm. This is a FREE event for all. We are currently looking for sponsors and donations of prizes to help make this a fun and exciting event.
Happy Holidays!

Author Visit
Students were able to enjoy a reading of Lety's Deaf Diaries, I Can Do Anything by Laura Eakiri. Laura silently read her book using American Sign Language while an interpreter read the words. Laura even taught the students basic ASL.
Glenn School was Laura's first reading of her new book in a school. She's originally from Pullman and has since moved to New York. She wrote her book to create a character that other deaf students can relate to.

Student Saying Thank You
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2024, members of the American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard made a special visit to Glenn Public School to honor and educate the school’s Kindergarten through Fifth-grade students about the significance of Veterans Day. The event aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by veterans while instilling a sense of pride and appreciation for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

That Time of Year...
Star Student
Congratulations to our November Star Student, Harper!
Harper stands out as one of the most kind, considerate, respectful, and patient students at Glenn School. She tackles every task with determination, putting forth her best effort regardless of the challenge. When faced with obstacles, she pushes forward, demonstrating resilience and an unwavering commitment to her work. Her perseverance speaks volumes about her strong work ethic and positive mindset.
Harper is not afraid to stand alone, especially if it is the “right” thing to do. She always follows through with tasks, goes above and beyond in her learning, and supports her friends and schoolmates in loving, kind ways.
Having Harper as a student at Glenn supports a warm and welcoming environment from the students and our goals of continuous growth.
