Hello Weston Parents,
I would like to thank those of you who are complying with our new drop-off procedure. There will be some growing pains as everyone gets used to the new standards, but the process is already improving greatly. As always, I encourage you to contact me direct with any questions, comments, or concerns. I truly appreciate the feedback as it helps to make what I do easier and better for all.
As we close out the first week of this new school year and new drop-off procedure, I would like to offer one last friendly reminder that this procedure is in place for the safety of all at the school. These are not rules put in place by the school, rather, they are traffic directives put in place by the police department in compliance with local and state laws. Therefore, an operator of a motor vehicle is obliged to abide by them.
Key points to remember:
- Drive slowly. Children have a magic super power to appear out of thin air.
- There is absolutely no parking allowed outside of the designated areas indicated on the traffic map released prior to the start of the school year. This includes the entire length of the sidewalk in front of the building and in the curve. If you have questions about this, or desire a copy of the map, call me. Citations will be issued.
- Metcalf Dr. is one-way traffic and goes southbound only until Cheney St. You MUST only turn right from the Weston parking lot. DO NOT “jog” to the left for Schoolhouse Dr.
- The parking lot itself is one-way traffic. Yellow arrows painted on the blacktop indicate the proper direction of flow.
- DO NOT drive through orange cones. These are in place for a reason. You will not like the citation that is issued for this violation.
- DO NOT burden school staff with parking or traffic complaints. I on the other hand would love to hear from you. (Even if it’s me you want to complain about).
Remember, the vehicle in front of you is your neighbor. The child in that vehicle is your child’s classmate and friend. Remain courteous and patient. Be the example.
