A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
The Riverview PTP is trying something new by offering a family bowling night this Friday at Farmington Lanes. We hope some of you will be able to stop by, bowl a game or two, and have some fun with other folks from our school community. You can click this link to sign up for a lane during one of the two sessions offered that night. The cost is $10 per bowler and Farmington Lanes will generously donate part of that cost back to our school. We are grateful for their partnership!
Also, please be mindful of the fact that the temperature is going to drop significantly this week. The highs will be in the low/mid 30s by Wednesday. If you haven't already, dig the winter clothes out of storage and get them ready to go. Your child will need them when they go outside for recess. Remember, we go out every day as long as it is above 0 degrees and not raining or storming. Don't forget to label everything so we can easily get it back to your child if it is misplaced.
Best wishes for a great week!
Shawn Peck
Principal

She creates a welcoming classroom environment, plans engaging and thoughtful learning experiences for her students, shows tremendous collaboration and teammwork with those around her, and always treats those around her with kindness, care, and empathy. Year after year, the learners in her classroom learn and grow so much and we are extremely grateful for everything she does to help make Riverview such a special place.

Winter Weather Reminders
Make sure you have a plan for all possible weather-related schedule changes, like a late start, early release, or flexible learning day, and that your contact information is up to date with your child’s school.
If you need child care, please arrange for backup options in advance in case of a flexible learning day or an early release due to weather. School may also have a delayed start depending on weather conditions, which could also require alternative child care.
In the event of a school closure, delayed start, or early release, other school events may be canceled depending on the forecast and conditions. For the latest updates regarding before and after-school activities, please watch the news or visit the district website for the latest announcements regarding the status of before and after school activities.

Winter Is Coming! Be Sure Your Child Has Warm Winter Clothes For Recess
The weather this time of year is unpredictable, but colder temps are on the way. Please be sure to send your child to school with a winter coat, hat, and gloves. Also, please label each piece of clothing with your child's name so we can return it to them easily if they happen to misplace it.
Need Help Getting Winter Clothes For Your Child?
If you are facing financial hardship and need assistance in getting your child winter clothes (coat, hat, boots, gloves, snowpants, etc.), please reach out to Riverview's 360's community social worker, Ms. Lindsy Bednar at lbednar@farmington.k12.mn.us.
Riverview Is Hiring! Join Our Team As A Special Education Paraprofessional!
Come join a great team and make a difference in the lives of children! Riverview has multiple positions open to work with learners with special needs. The positions range from 29.75 hours hours per week to 32 hours per week. Pay starts at $19.50 per hour plus benefits. Click here to learn more and to apply. Please reach out to principal, Shawn Peck at speck@farmington.k12.mn.us if you have any questions.
We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
