You Need to Know!👇🏽
CCPS Students have the opportunity to apply to their local STATE Officials for scholarships. This allows students to have access to multiple scholarship opportunities within their district where they reside. Due to the Carroll County map realignment in January 2023, there are multiple districts represented in Carroll County. To confirm your district, please visit http://mdelect.net and search your address on the upper left-hand side. Once student enters their address, at the very bottom will see a list of their state senator and state delegate(s). Your student should then click on each elected state official's name, and it will immediately link them to their elected official's office to inquire about a scholarship application opportunity.
Please note that students must attend a Maryland College or university or private career school to be eligible for scholarships. If your major is not offered in the state of Maryland, you may apply through MD Higher Education Commission (MHEC) via Unique Major. This process can take up to 8 weeks.
Out-of-State Exceptions:
- Award recipients may use this scholarship at an out-of-state school if their major is not available at any Maryland institution and if their legislator agrees. In order to determine whether a major is eligible for the out-of-state exception, students must complete MHEC’s Unique Major Application between March 15 and July 1.
- Scholarship can be used at out-of-state institutions if the applicant is on active duty with the U.S Military and domiciled in the state.
- The scholarship may also be used out-of-state if the student is disabled and studying at an institution outside the state that makes special provisions for disabled students that are not available to the applicant at an institution in Maryland.
- The 2025 Unique Major Application will open on March 15 and close on July 1 and is separate that the delegate and senatorial applications at https://www.maryland.gov/
