Good Afternoon Siegrist Families,
We’ve officially kicked off the 2024-25 school year, and what a fantastic start it’s been! It’s been wonderful to see our Siegrist leaders back in the building, and we’re thrilled to welcome new families into our community. Thank you for your support in making this first week a success for everyone. Don’t forget to stay connected with us by following Siegrist Elementary on Facebook and Twitter.
As we look ahead to the coming week, I’d like to draw your attention to this edition of the Siegrist Star. It’s packed with important information, including details about lunch visitors, picture day, the parent portal, and our PTA’s Popsicles on the Playground event next Monday evening. We hope to see you there!
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and we can’t wait to welcome our Siegrist leaders back on Monday!

Recess Temperature
- The Platte County R-3 School District has established best practices regarding extremely high or low temperatures as these relate to outdoor and indoor recess.
The Guidelines:
Indoor Recess will be held when the temperature or heat index is above 95 degrees Fahrenheit
Indoor Recess will be held when the temperature or wind chill is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit
The Office will monitor recess temperatures using AccuWeather and will send an all-staff email if it is too hot or too cold to go outside for recess. If you have not received an email from us, you can assume you are good to go for consistency purposes.
Pirates ROCK Kickoff/Community Tailgate - August 30
On Friday, August 30, we kick off our 19th year of our Pirates ROCK character education program! To celebrate, wear your orange and black on Friday, join the community from 5-6:30pm at Price Chopper in Platte City for a tailgate, and enjoy free popcorn at the first home football game! See attached flier for details.
PCR-3 Tickets Go Digital
Starting this fall, all tickets for PCR-3 athletic events will be digital. Fans will purchase tickets online through GoFan or by presenting a card or mobile payment option at the ticket gate. All major credit cards are accepted, along with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Prices remain the same; a regular season game is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Coming into Siegrist
Visitors to the building: you will always need to bring your ID with you when you come into the building. We will scan your ID into our safety system Platte County uses to ensure the safety and security of our students.
Online Meal Payments through Linq Connect
K-12 Payment Center is now Linq Connect, where parents can deposit money for meal transactions. Parents can access Linq Connect through this link or when signing in to PowerSchool Parent Portal. In addition to allowing for better and faster service to students during meal times at school, the online portion of this system allows guardians to set up scheduled meal deposits or deposits to accounts when falling below a certain amount. A transaction fee will be applied based on the amount of funds added. The Fees are 3.95% of the transaction total with a $2.85 minimum to be paid by the parent/cardholder.
To set up your student's account, you'll need their student ID number, which can be found on your Parent Portal. Parents can still deposit money for meal transactions by sending payment via check or cash to their child's school.
ALERT! New Prices!
Breakfast: $2.00 (K-12)
Lunch: $2.80 (K-5)
Milk: $0.55 (K-12)
Lunch Visitors
In order for our staff to establish lunchroom processes with our students, the first day parents can attend lunch with students is September 9, 2024. There will be a sign up capping the number of adult visitors each day per grade level. Keep your eye out for that Sign Up.
Celebrations and Birthdays
We believe it is important for the school to recognize our students on their birthday and other special days. However, for several reasons including increased food allergies and preservation of the instructional day, students are not allowed to bring treats from home or have flowers/balloons or other items delivered to the classroom for birthdays, going-away parties, or other personal events. Each classroom teacher will recognize the student in a special way to celebrate his or her birthday.
If a student receives a delivery at school, the student will be notified to come to the office to view the item. Parents will be responsible for transporting the item home. Birthday party invitations may only be distributed if invitations are given to every student in the class.
Permanent Transportation Changes
OR Code is used only for permanent transportation changes.
If your are changing your child transportation on a permanent basis, please us the QR code below to fill out the form for transportation. After they are received your changes they will notify you and the school of the change and when it will start.
PTA SPIRITWEAR
Parents: Please Complete our Stakeholder Requirements Survey by September 15
Platte County School District is reaching out to our parents and community members to gather feedback that will inform the development of our updated Strategic Plan for 2025-30. Please complete the short five-question survey linked below by September 15. Thank you for your feedback!
PowerSchool Parent Portal
Parents can use Parent Portal (www.plattecountyschooldistrict.com/parents/parent_portal) to keep up to date on grades and assignments (for students in grades 6-12), attendance, as well as access to active links to meal payments and fees. New parents who did not receive their new PowerSchool Access ID and Password at registration days or back-to-school nights can either pick theirs up at future back-to-school nights (PCHS, PCMS, Platte Purchase) or look for them to come home with the elementary student.
Treasure Chest Support
The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is a stocked resource center providing food, milk, and toiletries for PCR-3students and families in need. Qualifying families will receive a weekly form via email to sign up or can call 816-858-7001 for assistance.
Families will receive an email with approval to come to the Treasure Chest on Wednesdays from 4-6pm at the new Treasure Chest site (south side of Paxton building).
