The eLeader
The official digital newsletter of La Porte ISD
Greetings, La Porte ISD Family.
Due to the forecasted inclement weather, our school district will be closed on Monday, July 8. This includes all camps and activities. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this time.
Please follow local authorities' guidance regarding the weather. We will provide updates about Tuesday operations on Monday afternoon.
Our sense of community is strong — not only as we weather storms — but also as we celebrate together. This was on full display this past Thursday at the Rotary Club of La Porte's annual July 4th Parade, which was followed by a free hot dog lunch sponsored by the City of La Porte. I am grateful for the many volunteers and participants who work every year to help ensure that this remains a truly special place to live!
Along those same community lines, if you have not attended one of our summer pop-up read aloud events, please consider joining us for some story time with our principals. Plus, the children get to craft their own bookmarks and enjoy an icy cold treat! The next pop-up read aloud is this coming Wednesday at Heritage Elementary School. See the full schedule of events below.
I hope you are staying cool and hydrated during these scorching months, and I wish much rest, relaxation and fun as summer continues.
With La Porte pride,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.
