✅ PfISD approves 2% raise, $17 minimum wage
The Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees approved salary increases for the 2024-2025 school year at the April 18, 2024 board meeting. In addition to a comprehensive 2% raise of the pay range midpoint for all employees, PfISD also increased the minimum hourly wage to $17 with placement scale adjustments for all PfISD employees.
In addition to raises, the Board approved an increase in stipends for special education teachers, market adjustments for nurses, bus drivers, and bus monitors, and increased the starting teacher salary to $57,700.
Salaries for the district’s roughly 3,000 employees make up 86% of its annual district budget, and the raises approved by the Board will drive the upcoming year’s budget. Despite the challenges posed by the skyrocketing cost of living and an anticipated $7 million budget deficit, PfISD is committed to prioritizing its staff members by striving to provide them with the maximum possible increase.
“Even with these challenges, our administration and our Board recognize our most valuable resource – our teachers and our staff,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Steve Flores said. “Pflugerville ISD is able to serve our 25,000+ students every single day, and we know that is only due to the hard work of our highly educated, certified, experienced, and dedicated staff members.”
Despite four additional special Legislative Sessions last year, public education continues to face financial challenges due to the Texas Legislature's inaction. Without changes to public education finance and combined with rising costs, PfISD and districts across Texas will continue to look for ways to do more with less.
To provide employee raises, district officials will continue to evaluate programs and processes to identify any cost savings for the district.
“I hope our staff understands the budgetary stress the district faces and can appreciate the efforts to provide a raise that so many are deserving of this year,” Dr. Flores said. “We are fortunate to have a Board that is committed to our work and believes in the people who advance the vision, mission, and beliefs of the district forward. We are all in this together.”
❌ Pfamily Pfitness Pfest CANCELLED
Regrettably, The Pfamily Pfitness Pfest scheduled for Saturday, April 20, has been canceled due to anticipated rain and thunderstorms.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Rest assured, we are committed to creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for all attendees, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to host the event under better weather conditions in the future.

WHS Health and Wellness students participate in Shamrock Shake, Salt, and Sugar lab
What’s better than tasting your learning?! Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, students in the Applied Nutrition and Dietetics class at Weiss High School wrapped up a unit on diabetes, sugar and salt substitutes, and sodium. They made healthy shamrock shakes and did a sugar/artificial sweetener and salt tasting. Students experienced ways to reduce sugar and salt intake while bravely trying a bright green low-sugar smoothie.
The Health and Wellness program of study is available at Hendrickson, Pflugerville, and Weiss High School campuses. Students interested in careers related to nutrition and diet learn applied nutrition, dietetics, human growth and development and can earn an industry certification in nutrition. There is also an opportunity to join the student organization (FCCLA) and compete in nutrition-related events for awards, develop leadership skills, and apply for scholarships.
Learn more about this and other career and technical education programs in the CTE Program Guide.

Melissa Stark of Riojas (via: Preston T.)
Mrs. Stark has constantly gone above in beyond to guide these kindergartens (our daughter included) with real-skills. Our daughter wanted to bring in something to class, but after it was dropped and thought to be a lost cause, Mrs. Stark used it as a learning opportunity for her class while also celebrating all students.
Mrs. Mudd and Ms. Acosta of Spring Hill Elementary School (via: Vicky)
I want to thank Mrs. Mudd and Ms. Acosta for my deepest appreciation for all the hard work you put into making learning engaging, meaningful, and fun. You both go above and beyond to ensure that every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. Thank you for making a difference in my child's life and for inspiring her to love learning. THANK YOU!!

Y sin duda alguna yo también!!!! Ella tiene la cualidad de la paciencia, y a hecho un fantástico trabajo. Le enseña siempre con mucho cariño a mi hijo. Se nota que Ama lo que hace.

Lisa Kammerer of Dyslexia (via: Becky E.)
Mrs.Kammerer has been amazing, she is my son’s homebound teacher this year! For a kid that hasn’t had experience in classroom in two years has learned a lot. She is patient and very kind he enjoys his school time even when he is a little wild sometimes, he has learned more this year and we are excited for him to be in school next year! Thank you for being patient, caring and kind to my son!
