Hello Glennwood Families,
We have a lot of exciting events happening at Glennwood in the coming weeks, which are highlighted below.
Registration of new CSD students is now open for the 2024-25 school year! All students currently enrolled at Glennwood or College Heights automatically roll up to their next grade, HOWEVER, if you have a child in a private Pre-K and will be attending Glennwood next year as a kindergartener, please register as soon as possible! Spread the word to your friends and/or neighbors and please encourage them to register their child. Only registered rising kindergarteners may attend K-Day on April 18. The earlier we know who our kindergarteners are, the more effectively we can plan for the coming year. Please click here for the registration process.
This Monday, March 11th, 30 Decatur High School student-athletes will come to all 9 classes during Crew Time to follow-up on recent counseling lessons on good sportsmanship, getting along, and bullying. Co-organized by DHS teacher and Glennwood parent, Beth Lewis and our own Jonathan Blase, it is an exciting opportunity for K-2 students to interact and emulate great student-athlete leaders on the other end of the K-12 spectrum. In addition to participating in activities such as playing games, learning a cheer, etc., they'll also get an opportunity to ask the DHS students questions related to particular topics. We will make sure to take photos to share of this wonderful opportunity!
Thursday, March 14 is Pi Day! Our PTA and instructional team are hosting Pi(e) Night from 5:30-7:30 pm. PTA will be providing pizza and Glennwood staff will be sharing math games for families to play and learn. Additionally, our Spring Book Fair will be open for evening shopping hours during this event which benefits our Glennwood Media Center. Please review the announcements below for more details. We hope to see you there!
Of course all of these amazing events need man(and woman) power! Please see below for information on how to sign up to be a volunteer at these and other events! Thank you in advance for your time and energy!
Warmest regards,
Holly Brookins, Ph.D.
Principal

Increasing Communication through Family Meetings - Coffee Chat on March 22
In today’s world, families are finding less time to connect. From the demands of dual income households, to extracurricular activities, and even the use of electronic devices, many external factors claim the family’s focus. Weekly Family Meetings can assist not only in time management, but more importantly in providing opportunities for parents and children to discuss important issues, strengthen communication, reinforce values, and nurture positive relationships. Please come for a Coffee Chat with Glennwood school counselor and licensed professional counselor (LPC) Jonathan Blase to get all the resources necessary to begin family meetings on your own!
Please complete this Google Form to share your feedback. Thank you in advance!
