Dear SPASH Parents and Families:

Jon R. Vollendorf, Ed.D.
SPASH Principal
Pre-Arranged Absences
If your child will be absent for an extended period of time, including deer hunting, please have your child bring in a signed note to the Attendance Office from the parent indicating the dates they will be out of school. The student will be given a pre-arranged absence form to take to their teachers to complete. This procedure will ensure that your student will have their homework prior to their absence.
Family Address Information
If you have recently moved, please be sure that the school district has an updated address on file for your student/family. If you need to update your family address, please provide the district with a copy or a picture of a piece of mail with your name and current address. This information can be dropped off at the SPASH Main Office, the district office or emailed to dzarecki@pointschools.net. Once received, your information will be forwarded to the district office to be updated in Skyward for all students in your household. If you have any further questions regarding this procedure, please contact the Main Office at SPASH 715-345-5400.
Payment of Student Fees
Reminder to parents to pay your student fees as soon as possible. Fees can be paid in the SPASH Main Office or paid through Skyward Family Access. MasterCard or Visa (Debit or Credit Card) will be accepted. If paying online, parents will need their personal “parent” login and password. Using your student’s login and password will not give you access to the payment screen. Payments will immediately be posted to the student’s account. A $1 handling fee is charged to cover processing costs.
If your family is experiencing financial hardship, or qualify for free or reduced lunch, please complete a fee waiver form. Fee Waivers must be completed each year.
Student Parking
Reminder to students who drive to school and park in the student parking lot that SPASH requires students to purchase a parking permit each year. The permit hangs on your car's rear-view mirror.
The completed parking form, student's driver's license and payment of $50.00 are required to obtain a parking permit. Permits can be purchased in the in the SPASH Main Office or online through Family Access. If you are paying online, the completed form must be turned in to the Main Office to obtain your parking pass. Students must have a valid driver’s license in order to purchase a permit.
The SPASH parking lot is enforced by the City of Stevens Point. Students who park in the lot without a parking permit may be ticketed.

Sophomore Boston School Forest Trip
The sophomores at SPASH are taking their last trip to the Boston School Forest. Students get to work with Mrs. Lockman on identifying fungus, discovering the seasonal changes associated with phenology, and learning the importance of water quality in our fresh water sources in Stevens Point. The Biology Micro and Macro teachers are very excited for our sophomores to experience hands-on learning in a great environment!
From the Counseling Office
Fall Greetings from the SPASH Counseling Department! Here are your 2024-2025 School Counselors and Alpha Assignments: Lara Nugent: A-F, Gina Jordan: G, and all 504 Students, Steve Strasman: H-L, Barb Wetzel: M-R, Nick Nugent: S-Z.
Junior conferences are quickly approaching. Your student's counselor will send a letter home about 2-3 weeks prior to your scheduled appointments. It is highly encouraged that you attend with your student. Things discussed are: earned credits and graduation status, senior year courses, assessment performance, and post-secondary plans (college, workforce, military, etc.).
Scholarships for Seniors: The SPASH Scholarship website is a great place to start when looking for scholarships. All scholarships are housed in Xello, which students can access through the link on the SPASH homepage. The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin scholarship application opens on December 1st and closes on February 15th.
Financial Aid: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA fafsa.gov.) is a form that determines your eligibility for federal student financial aid. Aid can include grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and loans. To learn more about the FAFSA, you can visit the official website: https://studentaid.gov/ If you would like assistance with your FAFSA, please contact Mrs. Jordan, School Counselor at SPASH, at gjordan@pointschools.net or call (&15) 345-5403 ext. 6.
Explore Italy Trip (June 2026)
With the help of Explorica/Worldstrides, the SPASH Social Studies department is taking a trip to ITALY in June 2026. The trip is a 10-day journey through Italy with stops in Florence, Venice, Rome, Assisi, and Pompeii. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience and embrace Italian culture; including food, history, art, and visits to the Roman Colosseum and the Vatican. Travelers are also eligible for high school and college credit.

Seal-A-Smile Dental Program
Our district has returned to working with the Seal a Smile dental program! Seal a Smile is a program we previously participated in for school-based dental services. We will no longer be partnering with Bridging Brighter Smiles. Seal a Smile will be provided to us from Noble Community Clinics, formerly known as Family Health La Clinica. Noble will provide services at no cost to our students and their families regardless of insurance status, Medicaid, or ability to pay. The dental program will continue to include preventative dental services such oral exams, prophy (cleanings), sealant delivery, fluoride varnish placement, dental referrals, and oral hygiene instruction. Watch your email for more information if you are interested in Seal a Smile services.
