It's Easy to Recognize Teachers and School Employees
Game Changers: To recognize the game-changing work of Chesterfield County Public Schools employees, the school system recognizes Game Changers each month. Game Changers are those who step up to meet the needs of students; offer support and access to resources that assist their colleagues; provide an extra layer of support for families outside of the classroom; and who generally make a positive and sometimes life-changing difference in the lives of students, families and their colleagues. Someone You Should Know: Someone You Should Know is a video series designed to share stories about interesting people working in Chesterfield County Public Schools. Congressional Eco Heroes Challenge is open to students in grades K-8
Registration is open through Tuesday, Oct. 24 for the Eco Heroes Challenge, which teaches students more about how we can be eco-friendly in our daily lives and how small changes in our habits can add up to great rewards for the world we all live in. Participating students will complete a series of environmentally focused challenges and educational tasks to learn more about the importance of being eco-friendly in their daily lives. The packets will be due on Feb. 29th, 2024.

Gifted Referral Window
The Gifted Referral window for parents, students, and school staff opens on Monday, September 11th and ends Tuesday, October 24. If you would like to refer a child for gifted evaluation please complete the form within that time frame. The evaluation process begins in early November. If you have any questions, please reach out to James Wilbur (james_wilbur@ccpsnet.net) in the school counseling office. Thank you.
Bullying Prevention Month
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Promote Respect is how our school division educates parents, staff and students about bullying prevention. It is a year-long program that focuses on proactive and positive interventions to teach expectations of respect and provides opportunities for students to practice those skills and make it a part of their daily routine.

Oct. 20-22 is Virginia sales tax holiday
On Oct. 20-22, shoppers will not pay tax on qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products. Read all about it on the Tax Department website.
Socktober
It's Socktober! This month the students of Midlothian Middle, led by the Student Council Association (SCA), will collect socks to donate to those who don't have them this winter. Students can bring new socks to DONATE all month long. They should be brought to Mustang Morning. We can't wait to see how many socks we can collect and how many people we can help!
