GT PAC Parent Symposium - For Parents, By Parents
During the GT PAC closed meeting, members discussed the format of the upcoming 2022 GT Parent Symposium. This is an online event led by GT Parents, specifically designed for GT parents. The GT PAC is currently searching for a Keynote Speaker, as well as presenters to facilitate parent-led sessions during the symposium. If interested, please complete the form linked below no later than November 4, 2022.

GT PAC Updates
The GT PAC hosted its monthly virtual meeting on October 12, 2022. During the “Information Download” portion of the meeting, the GT department shared information about the implementation timeline for the GT Learning Plans, GT Family Series Challenge, and GT Workstream updates. Fort Bend ISD Film Fest! All grade levels may enter!
The Fort Bend ISD Film Fest is an annual competition hosted each year by the district for students and teachers of FBISD. Entries may be made in several digital media categories and projects are due March 1, 2023. Categories include Documentaries, Animations, and Narratives (long or short films). There are also opportunities to submit for Photography and Digital Media. Please see the Film Fest web page for details on submissions, rules, and rubrics!

Mentorship Spotlight
Fort Bend County Court at Law 4
Mentee: Emma H., Dulles HS
Judge Wallace began her judicial career as a judge for the Fort Bend County Court at Law 5, a position to which she was selected for a temporary one-year term by the County Commissioners in 2016. With this appointment, she became the first African-American woman to serve as a county court judge in Fort Bend County. Two years later, she returned to the bench after her election to the County Court at Law 4 in 2018. The following year, she was selected to serve as the Administrative Judge of the Fort Bend County Courts at Law.
Memorial Hermann Southwest Heart and Vascular Institute

Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Southwest is part of the 12-hospital Memorial Hermann Health System, known for world-class clinical expertise, patient-centered care, leading edge technology, and innovation. Located on the Campus of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, the Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Southwest opened in 2006 as Houston’s first freestanding heart hospital. Dedicated, specialized programming distinguishes the Institute from other similar facilities. The Institute’s Heart Valve Clinic, for example, offers patients innovative care delivered by a multidisciplinary team of affiliated specialists who work together to diagnose and treat heart murmurs. The Institute offers five cardiac catheterization labs, a 15-bed pre/post-operative area, five cardiovascular operating rooms, a 13-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, and 29 telemetry beds.
Fort Bend County Court at Law 3
Mentee: Katherine Y., Dulles HS
Judge Mathew was elected to the bench in 2018, becoming the first Asian-American woman to be elected in Fort Bend County. After graduating from law school, she worked as a creditor right litigation associate at Hosto Buchan Parter & Lawrence and Wolpoff & Abrahamson. Just prior to her election, Judge Mathew worked as an attorney at Zwicker & Associates, concurrently serving as an associate municipal judge for the City of Arcola.
