A few weeks ago, we told you about the Pledge of Allegiance Project with WANF which allowed for some of our elementary students to be filmed reciting the pledge. Next week WANF will begin airing one class per day during their morning news broadcasts. We are excited to share that FAST will be the first school aired! Mrs. Kenney and some of Mrs. DiCaprio's students will be shown reciting the pledge around the following times: 6:15 AM, 8:15 AM, 9:15 AM. We should also receive a copy of the broadcast to share after it airs.

Parents of our current 8th grade students are invited to meet with middle school assistant principal, Demetria Walker on November 13, 2004 at 9:30am in the Innovation Hall. During this meeting, Mrs. Walker will cover important dates and events, You Science, and discuss the responsibilities of 8th grade students with regards to work, grades, and behavior.

As we prepare for the upcoming cold and flu season, we are actively working to build a strong pool of substitute teachers to ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences for our students during staff absences. If you or someone you know is interested in making a positive impact in our school community and would like the flexibility of part-time work, we encourage you to consider joining our team of dedicated substitute teachers.

Substituting with us is a great opportunity to connect with our students, support their education, and experience the vibrant, collaborative environment here at our school.

Beginning Monday, November 4, our student council will be holding their annual food drive to benefit North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC). Student council members will be on hand during morning carpool to collect donated items. This is the sixth year that FAST will be supporting this charity with - we have been one of the largest donors the past few years and, when faced with a critical shortage this year, they reached out to us for help. Please refer to the list below for high need items. All items must be unopened and unexpired.

Registrations are now open for the Fulton County Technology Competition! The last day to register is November 13, 2024. This form must be correctly completed, signed and returned to Ms. Sawhney before the deadline. Please be sure that the form is accurate as no changes can be made after the registration is completed. Students will compete in the FAST tech fair on December 6 before competing at the county competition.

Students who are interested in competing can speak with Ms. Sawhney or you can find additional information on the FCS website.

We are excited to announce that this year’s yearbook is now available for pre-order! Our yearbook will be filled with special memories, class photos, and highlights from the 2024-2025 school year.

Picture retakes and make-ups for those who were absent are scheduled for November 12. Please remember that all students are required to wear their cobalt blue FAST polo for school pictures.

This week, we take a moment to recognize and thank the veterans among our staff and their families for their commitment and service to our country. We are proud to have individuals who have served, or have family members who have served, as part of our school community. Their dedication to our nation reflects a deep sense of duty and honor that inspires us all.

Please join us in expressing gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions to our school and our country.

ABSENCES: Please report student absences to both attendance@fastk8.org and your student's homeroom teacher. You may send doctors' notes for absences directly to attendance@fastk8.org

CURRICULUM/CLASSROOM CONCERNS: If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's class, your first point of contact should be your child’s classroom teacher. If further clarification or assistance is needed, you can contact the respective assistant principal (anesha.james@fastk8.org or elementary or demetria.walker@fastk8.org for middle school.)

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES: If your student will have a change to their afternoon transportation (whether it is for a day or long-term), please be sure that you are communicating any changes to your student's afternoon dismissal to both their homeroom teacher and Ms. Cadogan (gail.cadogan@fastk8.org).

If your child is not feeling well, we encourage you to keep them home to avoid spreading illness at school. Please keep in mind that if a student is running a fever they are expected to remain out of school until they have been fever free without the use of medication for a full 24 hours.

Please remember that FAST is a nut free school. Students should not bring any foods for lunch or snack that contain any nut products including, but not limited to, peanut butter or almond butter.

This is a serious risk to those students with severe allergies. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

As a reminder students are not permitted to use their cell phones or Bluetooth devices throughout the day. Students who have a cell phone out after school begins at 7:40am through 3pm will have their phone confiscated for the day. Please remind your students of this policy so that you will not have to come to the office to retrieve their phone.

Students must be in homeroom by 7:40am each day. Please be sure that you are allowing time to navigate carpool and your student to get to class on time. If you arrive after 8am, you will need to come into Innovation Hall to sign in your student.

Early dismissals are not permitted after 2:40pm (M-Th, 1:40pm Fridays). If you need to pick up your child for any reason, please plan accordingly.

All students are expected to be in full uniform every day. The full uniform code can be found on our website at: https://www.fastk8.org/fast-apparel-and-supplies/

Students who are not in full uniform will have their parents contacted.

If we meet our PTO membership goal, we will have a PTO sponsored spirit week including decade day, tacky tourist day, and more!

We're excited to announce a new Spirit Wear hat that is available for pre-sale! Students can wear their hats during recess and outdoor activities starting January 2025!
