PSAT Registration

Registration for the Fall 2024 PSAT/NMSQT exam is now available. This exam is a voluntary exam for NHHS students who are in the 10th or 11th grade. It is strongly encouraged that all 11th grade students in the Lyceum Program take this exam. Please see important deadlines and links below:

Exam Date: Tuesday, October 8, 2024
Exam Registration Window: Monday July 22, 2024 - Thursday, August 29, 2024. To register students and parents must complete this form together.
Payment Due Date: There is a $20 fee to take this exam. Payments should be made using SchoolCash Online by no later than Friday, August 30, 2024.
Accommodation Requests: Accommodation requests must be submitted by Monday, August 12, 2024. Further information regarding what needs to be submitted is included on the registration form.
Ongoing PSAT Information: Ongoing information regarding the PSAT and the required Bluebook Readiness Check are provided on the school's testing website. This website should be checked periodically to ensure that you are aware of any updates or changes.

FF Online Course for Recovery

NHHS is offering an online course to help students regain credit for courses where they received an FF due to exceeding the NHCS attendance policy. Students with FFs will be sent an email from Mr. Haas and be added to the Attendance Course in Canvas. Students must complete all assigned modules and activities with a score of 80% or above. In addition, students and parents/guardians must sign a contract indicating that they will not accumulate more than 10 unexcused absences in any class for the 2024-2025 School Year. This course may be accessed by students starting on Sunday, July 28th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Paul Haas at paul.haas@nhcs.net.

Parking Permits

Parking Permits for the 2024-2025 school year will be sold to

Seniors on Aug. 19 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Juniors on Aug. 20 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

First come first serve. Go to the Student Parking link on the NHHS website for more information and the Vehicle Registration Agreement form that must be signed by a parent.

Backpack Event

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. First time was a great time. Second time was a blast. This is the Third time our next door neighbor and incredible partner Trinity Methodist Church will host their Back to School Backpack Block Party on Saturday, August 17, from 11:00am - 2:00pm. Join the new kids on the block party for the oh, oh, oh, oh, oh the right stuff - free haircuts, free backpacks with school supplies, hotdog lunch, and lots of community booths giving away free stuff.

Open House and Orientation Aug. 21 4:00-7:00 pm

Freshmen Orientation and Open House will be August 21 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Sessions are as follows:

4:00 pm - Seniors and Juniors Session
6:00 pm - Sophomore and Freshman Session

There will be a brief Information session in Brogden Hall at the beginning of each session. Schedules will be available to students in Brogden Hall.

NHHS Fall Athletic Tryouts begin this week!

Cross Country: 7/29 at the UNCW Track 7:00 am
Volleyball: 7/31 from 3:45pm - 6:30pm in Brogden Hall
Men’s Soccer: 7/29 at 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Women’s Golf: 7/31 at Cape Fear Country Club at 4:30pm or 6:00 pm
Women’s Tennis: 7/31& 8/1 5:30pm - 7:30pm at NHHS tennis courts
Varsity and JV Football: 7/29 - 7/30 Mini Camp 7:30am - 10:00am at 13th and Ann Fields

Tryout and schedule information will be posted on the NHHS website. Also remember that you must have your updated physical and concussion forms completed and submitted through Dragonfly to tryout for athletics.
