Welcome back Lake Ridge family!

I have enjoyed meeting your sweet children this week, seeing those smiling faces, hearing the laughter, and watching their eyes light up as they see their new teachers and friends. The beginning of school is always so exciting! We have had an amazing first week of school and we are settling into new routines.

I want to take a moment to introduce myself and provide a little background information to you about me. I am Dr. Tiffany Hibbitts, the new principal at Lake Ridge. I am entering my 20th year in education. I taught first and fifth grade for thirteen years before accepting the role with Johnson City Schools as a District Math Curriculum Coach. I have two wonderful children, Isabella, a senior, and Colton, a 7th grader. I am married to my high school sweetheart. I am thrilled and honored to be joining the Lake Ridge family this year, and I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you in your child's education.

Please know that we welcome your support at Lake Ridge. Our partnership with you is essential to your child's success and we are committed to providing the best experiences! There are several ways we encourage you to get involved in the Lake Ridge School community. Joining our PTA is the best way to plug in and stay connected with the school. Also, teachers welcome parental involvement! Reach out to your child's teacher and share your talents or desires to serve.

Please note the carline traffic pattern begins by turning left at the bottom of the neighborhood and circling Lake Ridge Square from the left side.

Dropping students off in the front parking lot is unsafe. Please use the carline or pull into a parking space.

Please leave the accessible spaces open for families with an accessibility tag.

Dismissal tags are required for both car riders and walkers. If you need additionaly copies, please let your homeroom teacher know and we will get those sent home for you. We appreciate your support in providing the safest environment for your children.

Doors open at 7:45am. Please do not drop your children off at the front of the building until 7:45. There is not supervision outside until then.

Dismissal for K-2 students begins at 3:05 in the carline. If you have a child in 3rd grade or above, please do not get in carline until 3:15.

Johnson City Schools has implemented a new visitor management system this year. CENTEGIX’s visitor management system replaces the Raptor software previously used to screen visitors. Everyone visiting a school must present their driver’s license to front desk staff upon each visit and, once cleared, will receive a printed visitor label to wear while they’re at Lake Ridge.

Invitations for ParentSquare have been sent out to all parents. Please follow the instructions to activate your account. The platform syncs nightly with PowerSchool and pulls the contact information that parents have provided to connect them to their student(s). Please contact your Mrs. Lemery to update your contact information in PowerSchool.

DID YOU KNOW:

Parents, you can change their notification settings so you will only receive a single email for the day - called a digest - around 6 pm each night instead of receiving instant notifications. They just go to "My Account" and then they will see notification settings. Help Article

We are excited to announce that all Lake Ridge students will receive free breakfast and lunch this year through the Community Eligibility Program. Students in our preK program are not eligible for this benefit as they are not officially enrolled students in the PowerSchool SIS. Since our students will be receiving free lunch and breakfast, it is VERY IMPORTANT that families fill out our Household Survey. This is the way that our school will receive funding.

For Lake Ridge PTA, we're starting the school year off with a bang in switching what was our Spring Carnival back to the former version--Lake Ridge Fall Festival-taking place on Friday September 6th. Information has been sent home with students about business and family sponsorship opportunities with this event as well as the order forms for wristbands, tickets, and pre-ordered meals.

Thank you to all who have returned blue forms or joined PTA online. Also, please consider filling out the back of the form with options for volunteering that interest you or work with your schedule.

We still have openings on our board of managers for social media, spiritwear sales management, a Field Day assistant and a Scholarship Chair.

The Johnson City Schools Board of Education updated the district's policy on personal communication devices this year to help prevent distractions during the school day. According to the new policy, elementary school students may not use cell phones or smart watches during class time. Using wireless earbuds or headphones is prohibited on school property during school hours.
