and Meningococcal ACWY. There are others that are optional for this age group as well.
If we don’t have record of the required vaccines for your child, we will be sending out a letter to let you know
what they need in order to be compliant. Thank you so much!

STUCO
Hello Cardinal Nation, This is the DCMS historian with the monthly newsletter. As you all know the DCMS student council held a school wide t-shirt contest. The voting ends April 3rd. I sure hope everyone has had enough time to get their votes in as we had some amazing designs entered. But only one will win the twenty five dollar gift card from Walmart and a free t-shirt of your design. The winner has or will be announced on Thursday April 4th. Other than the t-shirt contest ending, Stuco will not be having any events in April Because we will be busy getting your last dance of the school year ready, Time to GlOw! It will be a glow in the dark dance. We will also be getting ready for the last month of school and fun.
Thank you cardinal nation - The Student council reporter Axel Mejia
Olympians & Spartans

Here are your Student of the Month and Citizenship winners for the Spartan team for the Month of February. Winners were given a non-uniform day, a certificate, and a medal!

Alexavier Calderon (Citizenship Award), Carlos Ixcoy (De La Torre), Francisco Castro Tomas (Chance), Anthony Landeros (Martinez), Aiden Miranda (Blanco), Lucy Mejia (Ramirez), Xavier Hernandez (Buckner), Mirna Gonzalez (Dierksen), Valentina Arostegui (Dierksen), Analitzy Loya (Martinez), Kaliyah Toland (Barajas) and Madilyn Fischer (Citizenship Award).
Student of the Month
Each month every 6th grade teacher will choose a student for any of the following reasons; someone who has been working hard in class, has shown growth and improvement in the content area, someone who is responsible and a good role model for their peers. We will have a short assembly at the end of the month and students will receive a certificate, medal and a non-uniform day bracelet. Families of the recipients will get a notification from their child’s teacher through Talking Points so they can attend. During this assembly we will also recognize the Citizenship award winner who is given to a student who is unanimously chosen by the teachers who demonstrates leadership, good character and great effort in all areas.
Odyssey & Voyagers
In the month of April, teachers on the Odyssey team have many exciting learning opportunities planned for our students. In Mr. Varner’s science, students will be learning about light and sound waves and their application in the real world. The ELA teachers are preparing for, and taking, state assessments in early April. They will then continue in Unit 2, A Starry Home. In Miss Johnston’s social studies classes, students will learn about the role of Kansans in the American Civil War, including the horrific attack that Quantrill’s Confederate guerillas made on the city of Lawrence. In addition, students will also examine the various immigrant groups that came to Kansas in large numbers – taking advantage of The Homestead Act – after the war. In Ms. Figueroa’s math classes, students will complete their Mathematics State Assessments as well as continue to work on Analyzing Figures to find Circumference and Area. Finally, in the Connect classes taught by Ms. Camacho, students will be working with Ai and will build a dream vacation brochure.
