Science Night
We celebrated National Parent Involvement Night on Thursday with a Science Night at Summerour. We had a blast. Thank you to all the parents who came out to engage in Science Bingo and other science-themed activities. We had a great time!
Mayor of Norcross, Craig Newton, visited us and recognized the work we are doing, together, at Summerour.
Principal for a Day
This year's Principal for a Day was Bobby Cobb, the CEO of Cobb Global Outreach. He spent the day shadowing Dr. Looney: visiting classrooms, meeting kids, talking to teachers. It was another Summerour success!
Dr. Riehm's students trying to figure out a rotary dial phone!
SMS Dance at Paul Duke
Mr. Deberry started a wonderful dance company this year. This week, they were part of a cluster dance showcase at Paul Duke STEM High School. We are so excited to see what the dance students have been working on!!

Language is Life: Movie Night
Four of Dr. Riehm’s students and one of Mr. Scott’s students stayed after school on Thursday to watch the PBIS documentary “Language is Life.” The movie honors Native American Heritage month and teaches about the efforts of 3 Native American Nations to save their languages for future generations.
One of the featured groups was the Cherokee and part of the 8th grade standards is centered on the Cherokee.
They had a great time!

Thanksgiving Tailgate
For about 7 years now, our teachers have tailgated in the parking lot on the last morning of school before Thanksgiving Break. Here's a picture with some highlights from this morning.
Bacon on the open fire, coffee, cold weather, and good friends!
November IB Learner Profile: Thinkers
IB learners are Thinkers. They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.
IB students contribute to discussions in a meaningful way. They do not shy away from challenging questions and, once they know the answer, follow up by asking “why?”
New Flags
We got some new flags on tall poles this week. Mr. Yelinek volunteered to have some of his student handle assembly. They did an awesome job!
