Book of the Month
May's book of the month is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We've been having lots of fun reading this book in class and feeding the very hungry caterpillar in the CHIPS hallway! Below is a link so you can read along at home.

The PTO would like to thank all the families that have helped us throughout the school year!
We will be having Touch a Truck on Tuesday, June 10th. We will need volunteers to help as the students visit the vehicles. If you would like to assist us that day please sign up through the link below.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, May 12 at 6:30pm at CHIPS. As always, there will be a link for those who would like to attend virtually. The meeting link is below.

Health News
Oh, allergies! Although it can be difficult to know conjunctivitis from allergies, here are some symptoms that may help distinguish between the two:
- Allergic reactions usually happen in both eyes at the same time.
- itchy/burning feeling
- watery discharge
- swelling of the eyelids
- redness of the eyes
- may have stringy discharge from the eyes
Yes, it may give you early morning, crusty itchy-pink eyes; however, when diagnosed correctly, it is not contagious, and your child can be in school. Thoroughly wash with warm water, then follow with a cool compress to help relieve minor irritations.
Allergies not only affect the eyes: expect sneezing, itching, asthmatic symptoms, hives, and a dry, scratchy throat. If your child has a history of asthma or you are unsure if they have allergies, please contact your Healthcare Provider for further medical advice. Below are some helpful links on asthma and allergic conjunctivitis.
Please use our absence line (978-251-5188 Option 0) or use our attendance email (chipsattendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) to report your child's absence from school and be sure to state the reason for the absence (illness, appointment, travel, etc). If your child is out due to illness, please let us know the nature of the illness (fever, vomiting, cough, etc.).
Nurse Kristen can be reached by calling the CHIPS main number (978-251-5188) and selecting option 3.
