Lasting Impressions!
The eighth grade students in Advanced Art have completed their ceiling tiles and they will be installed in the ceiling for all to see! Mrs. Planer is incredibly proud of these students and their hard work and dedication this year! Way to go!
Open for Business!
Fifth graders in Mrs. Del Conte’s Social Studies classes brainstormed with a partner (or on their own!) and came up with a business enterprise that will service people traveling/settling west during the 1800's. They created an advertisement poster and slideshow for their business, which included their business name, location and products/services offered. They researched prices of goods and services in the 1800’s in order to fulfill the needs of their potential customers. Students also were tasked with plotting a location on the trails and roads of that time for their chosen endeavor, and giving directions on how to locate them! Posters and slideshows were shared in presentations to the class. Well done, 5th grade!
Lincoln School Lights the Night!
The Builders Club, led by Ms. Coyle, organized a school-wide fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The elementary students participated in an educational assembly about how the organization helps people with cancer. One student in Ms. Tarantino's 4th grade class donated his own large coin collection, which he had been collecting for years, because he felt the organization needed it more than he did. Lincoln School celebrates his good character and generosity!
Lincoln School Student Council Meets Senator Bramnick and Governor Murphy!
Lepidopterology!
Mrs O'Dell's 1st graders studied the butterfly life cycle. Students viewed 3 of the 4 stages, watching the caterpillars eat and grow until forming a chrysalis, and then emerging as butterflies. After learning the body parts of a butterfly, students were able to watch them use their proboscis to eat sugar water and fruit before they were released.
Marvelous Wax Museum!
The annual Lincoln School Wax Museum was a great success!! Over the past month, fourth graders have worked hard to research an important person from history. Then they wrote a fabulous biography on their person using their notes. Finally, fourth graders wrote a speech, in first person point of view, about their individual's life. On the day of the wax museum, students dressed up and acted like a statue of their person. They "came to life" to recite their speech for family and friends. Excellent job, fourth graders!
