St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 4 I 10 May 2024
Hi everyone!
It was awesome to see so many mums in one spot at this morning’s Mother’s Day breakfast… Over 350 people came this morning! We hope you enjoyed your burger and coffee and the opportunity to catch up and meet other mums - I know your children were super excited to have you here. For those of you who couldn’t make it, please know we always acknowledge how it isn’t always possible for all mums to come along to these functions, but that we are thinking of you and celebrating you just the same. A very special thankyou to all those staff who helped with the breakfast – with 8 staff members in bed sick, a storm front on the way and a slightly crazy principal sending reminders, as always, you did an excellent job and the service you give to our community (in your own time) is very special indeed.
To all the mothers, grandmothers, and significant women in our school community, we hope you have a really happy Mother’s Day on Sunday and feel very loved and appreciated, as you spend special time with your families. If it is anything like my family, things typically don’t go as planned (think wet weather, a sibling scuffle, or a burnt offering), but somehow the kids and I usually manage to wrestle a meal and/or a cake into submission (while watching the footy and pampering Nicole!)
St Bernadette’s is extremely grateful for all the ways mums in our school make such a difference. Whether helping out with P&F activities, being a parent helper, attending busy bees, communicating with and supporting teachers, attending various functions and meetings, helping other parents in need, being a positive role model in and around our school while caring for all the different needs in your children’s lives - please know that you are very much appreciated and thanked for a job well done.
We hope you can all find a few minutes to put your feet up and know just how important mums are in the life of a family, and the love, kindness, humour, support, encouragement and challenge you give on a daily basis really sets your children up for a happy and healthy life.
On Wednesday evening I met with the School Advisory Council to discuss progress on our Stage 9 Early Learning and Carpark development, the Boundary Fence project and the new Senior Playground project. Thanks again to the parents who represent you on this council - their support, expertise, professionalism, and insights are greatly appreciated and highly valued. Lots to celebrate and look forward to ahead!
Next week our basketball team will be heading off to the interschool comp and our Year 4 students will be going over to the parish hall for their First Holy Communion retreat. Another fun-filled, busy week ahead!
All the best and good luck on Sunday Dads - you can do it!
Enjoy your special day, Mums - you deserve it!
