Dear Alta Mesa Families,

It is that time of year where as a school we look at enrollment for the upcoming school year. Attached to this newsletter is our "Intent to Return" form. Parents please take a few moments to fill out this form so we have an understanding of which students are planning on returning to Alta Mesa next year. If you have a 5th grade student, you do not need to fill out this form.

We continue with our 4/5 Flag Football and Softball Season this week. Football is at Mistletoe on Tuesday, Softball is at Rother on Wednesday, and both teams are at home vs. Boulder Creek on Thursday. Come out and support our teams and enjoy the great weather!!

Booster Club would like to remind everyone of an important week coming up! May 6th - 10th is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week! We can all agree that we have the BEST teachers/staff in all of Shasta County so let's show them some love!

The purposed of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System is to assist teachers, administrators, students, and parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.

This year testing will start on Tuesday, May 7th and will go through Thursday, May 16th. Testing is scheduled for two weeks because we only test students for an hour and a half each morning. Here are a few helpful tips for making sure your student is ready to go for testing:

• Ensure they arrive to school on time (8:05 for 4/5th grade, 8:20 for 3rd grade)
• Please refrain from scheduling appointments in the mornings as that is when our testing will be taking place
• Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast each day (our cafeteria has the best school breakfast in all the county)
• Make sure students are well rested and in bed on time
  

Open House will be Tuesday, May 28th. Parents/Guardians will start in the gym at 5:30 for Mr. Miller's welcome and opening remarks. Booster Club will follow with an Ice Cream Social for students and families and then classrooms will open up at 6:00PM.

Open House flyers will go home with students next week.

We are currently in our open enrollment period. We are enrolling students both in the district and out of the district. You can begin the enrollment process by clicking HERE.

**REMEMBER** You do not have to re-register your child if he/she is already an Alta Mesa student.

Yearbooks are on sale starting Monday, January 22nd. This year the yearbooks will be purchased from the school, not online. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, please bring cash or a check (made payable to Alta Mesa School) to the office. Please see the flyer below for more information.
