Freetown Elementary Heating System
We want to update you regarding the closure of Freetown Elementary School today, Friday, January 10, 2025. The closure was necessary due to an issue with the heating system caused by a malfunctioning mixing valve.
The valve has been repaired, and the heating system is now operating properly. Please know that our district facilities staff is working diligently to address any issues as they arise to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students and staff.
Freetown Elementary School will reopen as usual on Monday, January 13, 2025. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
A message from the district..
The first full week of school after the December break has been full of energy as the students quickly return to routines in the classrooms and buildings. Our English Learners began their annual ACCESS Testing to demonstrate their growth in language acquisition, provided by our team of English Language Educators - Sandy Doe, Marina Almeida and Carolyn Westgate-Gaspar. All students will be demonstrating their growth on Mid-Year benchmarks in ELA and Math - we are very proud of their focus during these weeks. There are amazing events and activities in each building and we hope that you take the time to read the updates from the buildings.
With the temperatures maintaining a chilly exterior we want to remind families to dress students in layers and ensure they have warm hats, gloves/mittens and jackets. If you know of a family in need of these items please don’t hesitate to reach out to the building teams.
The district wants to recognize so many of our amazing Faculty, Staff, Paraprofessionals, Maintenance, Custodial and Food Service Staff, Directors, Assistant Principals, Principals, Secretaries, School Psychologists, OT, PT and BCBA’s, Nurses, Library and IT Staff, SRO’s, Coaches, Advisors, as well as Central Office Administration and Staff, School Committee, Town Employees and Officials, Parents and our Community Partners. We can never take the incredible work people do for our students for granted. This holds true for our first responders, our town employees, our DPW, our laborers, and everyone who provides a service to make our lives better.
