Silver Team Update
January 13-17
Family Need To Knows
Blue and Silver Team students have been diligently working during this school year to track the statistics of an NFL football team. Students have kept track of wins and losses, created double lines, and written game summaries. This week, students worked to determine all team’s winning percentages along with finding the mean, median, mode and range of each division. This information was then used to make play-off predictions! As a reward for all this hard work, both teams will be having a SUPERBOWL CELEBRATION in class!!! The party will be on Friday, February 7th. Students MUST have their football math book and statistics page completed to 6th grade quality work expectations and turned in to be eligible to participate.
During our celebration we will be making a sweet and salty Superbowl Super Snack Mix to share. If you are able, please consider sending something off the following list to contribute to our mix:
Cheez Its
Sturdy chips of any kind (ex. Doritos, Cheetos, etc…)
Chex Mix
Pretzels
Popcorn
Goldfish
Sturdy Cereal of any kind (ex. Honey Nut Cheerios, Honeycomb)

Important Dates:
- January 20 - No School for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- January 23 - Field Trip to watch Alice and Wonderland, Jr. at Kickapoo High School
- February 17- No School for President's Day
- March 13 - End of 3rd Quarter
- March 14-20 - Spring Break

Our Big and Busy Classroom
Math
- Kahn Course Mastery: 60% due Tuesday, March 11
- Football Math: Due Friday, Feb. 7. The completed work is the ticket into the Superbowl Party we will enjoy in class. Students who are not done with their work will be complete it during the party.
- Unit 6: Mrs. O's favorite, ALGEBRA!
English
- Weekly "Hello, ELA!" skills practice. This is a quarterly grade.
- The Art of the Argument: Students will be learning to identify supported claims, supporting evidence, and valid reasoning. Expect their proposals at home to grow more advanced. 🙂

- Read to Succeed: The Secret Sheriff of Sixth Grade, by Jordan Sonnenblick.
Social Studies & Science
- Ancient Greece
- Students will have a weekly assignment due every Friday morning. 🙂
- Keep practicing all the names of our continents and oceans.
- We will continue to practice reading maps and timelines.
- Weather
- Types of fronts, air masses, storms, precipitation, and what drives convection currents
- Students are creating a weather booklet from their notes and clever ideas. Due Friday, Dec. 13th. Your student should be able to show you their progress.
