Dear KDM Family,
It was a great first week of school! As we settle into our new routines, the students did a wonderful job of assimilating into their classes and transitioning to KDM procedures.
We have our first round of iReady Math Diagnostic Assessments coming up next week for Grades 1-5. The intent of this test is to challenge students and determine the extent of their understandings. This diagnostic assessment is a meaningful measure that aids our teachers in identifying students' strengths and areas for improvement. Please continue to ensure that your student arrives at school well-rested, well-fed, and ready to fully demonstrate their understanding.
Important updates for parents this week:
- KDM PTA is launching its Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser this week to raise funds to purchase much needed learning tools and equipment for the school. There are lots of prizes to win just for participating! Please look for the flyers in your child's backpack.
- As part of our remembrance of September 11th, students and staff are encouraged to wear Red, White, and Blue as a symbol of our unity and patriotism on Wednesday, 9/11.
- September 11th: PTA Meeting at 7 pm. I hope to see you there! Check out their website! Consider joining the PTA. Join here.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend,
Brian Rawlins

Reminders and Updates
- Genesis Parent Portal: HERE you will find vital information regarding your child’s schedule, teacher’s name, and bus assignments.
Parent Drop-Off Procedures: Please enter the driveway next to transportation and come down the hill. Follow the cones in the parking lot and weave your way to the side entrance of the building. Staff will help direct parents and greet students.
Parent Pick-Up Procedures: On the days that parents pick their child up from school, we ask that they email their child's teacher and our attendance secretary, Christina Markowitch (cmarkowitch@rocktwp.net) or Jude Wallin (jwallin@rocktwp.net) by 12pm . This ensures that your child is in the appropriate place for dismissal and eliminates confusion. Please use the visitor's spots in the front lot or the parking lot across the street.
Lunch: Please see the links below to learn more about ordering lunch. KDM is happy to be providing a Grab-and-Go breakfast (for a fee) this year as well.
