Principal's Message
Good Evening Yowell Families,
This is Mrs. Fiscus with your weekly update. This week at Yowell we will kick off our fall fundraiser. A culmination of a few years of fundraising has paid for our outdoor classroom much like the pavilion at Rock Water Park. We along with Morton Buildings are work through the permitting process with the Town of Culpeper. The money raised this year will continue to enhance our outdoor spaces. The fundraising format is all donation with various prize thresholds. There are not products to sell or deliver. You 'll be tasked with sending 10 text messages and/or email addresses to family and friends. I will provide more details this Tuesday after our launch.
5th grade band instrument selection is Tuesday evening at CMS at 6pm. This will be the only opportunity students will have to try various instruments.
The state of Virginia requires school divisions starting before Labor Day close the Friday prior to Labor Day. Therefore we are closed Friday and will reopen Tuesday, September 3rd.

5th Grade Band
We are pleased to invite you to join the 5th Grade Band! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn to play an instrument before you begin middle school. We are very excited to allow students to physically try the instruments before selecting which one to play! The instrument choices are Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Baritone. Classes begin the week of September 16th.
- Tuesdays Before School - 7:30-8:30 am (please arrive at 7:20)

How do I sign up???
You can register for 5th-Grade Band by attending the Instrument Selection Night. Here, you can try the instruments to select the one best suited for you. There will also be information about obtaining your instrument. We recommend that you rent for at least the first few months to ensure it is the right instrument for you.
Instrument Selection Night:
Tuesday, Aug 27th at 6:00 pm at Culpeper Middle School
*Please note that this is the only Instrument Selection Night for 5th-grade band students and the only time they will be able to try the instruments prior to selecting what they will play*
Transportation Information
In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here. Also, this is the direct link to transportation.
Parents of students Pre-K through Grade 3 are expected to meet their children at the bus stop. Failure to do so will result in the child(ren) being returned to school. Should you choose to allow your child(ren) to be dropped off without supervision in the afternoon, please fill out and return this document.
We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.
