• We conducted an evacuation drill during November and our student body showed great respect allowing our drill to go very smoothly.
• Gaylord Community Schools hosted a tour of our school district to the Otsego County Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class. GHS provided a tour of our facilities and our Culinary Arts students provided the luncheon. Feedback was that the soup was an absolute hit!

We want to remind students that are taking Michigan Virtual Classes that they will not be able to access their classes from December 23-27. Deadline for completion of Michigan Virtual classes for this semester are January 17.

UPCOMING EVENTS

• Michigan Works! will have an information table during all lunches December 12 covering job opportunities and resources for career training.
• The Marine Corps will have recruiters visiting lunches on December 5 and 19
• Financial Aid Night will be Monday January 27 at 6PM at the High School.

CLASS of 2025

• FAFSA: If you are planning to continue your education after high school, it’s time to start your financial aid application (FAFSA). Get started by creating your FSA ID. Both the student and parent(s) need to create one. Once you have created your FSA ID and received a confirmation email from Federal Student Aid (FSA) that your identity has been verified, you can begin your FAFSA form. Don’t wait—the sooner you file FAFSA, the sooner you’ll receive a financial aid award offer from your school.
• Scholarships: Many are opening soon. Here’s a local scholarship search engine from MI Student Aid.

Now that winter is here, we just wanted to share some friendly safety reminders...

• Drive slower in the parking lot due to slipperier conditions.
• Due to poorer road conditions, please leave earlier to ensure that students can arrive at school on time and safely.
• Make sure to yield for our school buses when they have their flashers on.

On January 1 the GHS Girls Basketball team will take on Saline High School at the iconic Little Caesars Arena.

Safety and Security is top priority for Gaylord Community Schools and we wanted to provide a link for the state wide OK2SAY program. OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
