The Wayne-Westland Wrap Up - September 27, 2024
Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
As we conclude the first month of the school year and settle into our routines, I want to stress how vital regular attendance is to our students' success.
Every day in the classroom is essential for both academic progress and personal growth. Being present consistently allows students to engage fully in learning and build valuable relationships with their teachers and peers.
Let's continue to prioritize attendance and support our students in reaching their highest potential.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Curry
Acting Superintendent

School Safety Information
Emergency Protocols
We are committed to keeping our families informed about essential emergency preparedness procedures to ensure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency. This includes guidance on what actions to take (and what to avoid), the timeline to expect during a lockdown, and an overview of the safety drills conducted across our schools each year.
The District Crisis Team has developed these important documents and they are posted on our district website. We encourage all families to review this information to be fully prepared and informed.
Please take a few moments to go over these materials, so we can work together to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
Preschool Openings
The Sunshine and Rainbows preschool program is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year.
Sunshine and Rainbows is the preschool component of the Future Educators class at the William D. Ford Career Technical Center. The program is a training site for high school students interested in a career in education or child care. The preschool curriculum encourages freedom, friendliness, and creativity, while keeping adult involvement at a level that supports, but doesn’t hinder, a child’s growing independence.
Classes meet three days a week from October through May.
