A SEASON TO BE GRATEFUL
From The Principal's Desk
We are excited to announce our Wildcat Reading Challenge! Each month classes will be competing for the top two positions who have the highest average minutes read. Winning classes will choose from a list of selected activities and incentives. Additionally, the WHOLE school will be reading and their total word count will be adding up. If the school reads 90 million words by May 30th, students will get to silly string Mrs. Lewis at the end of the year. See below for details. We can't wait to see how many books our Wildcats can read!
October was a busy month on the Wildcat campus. Numerous classes took their annual trip to Wemple's Pumpkin Patch, the Fifth-Grade classes attended Day in the Desert at the Belfast Petroglyphs and we ended the month with the Lip Sync Performance by our Seventh and Eighth Graders.
If you missed the annual Halloween Carnival hosted by the Class of 2025 you missed a great event. There were carnival games, a showing of great costumes and tons of fun carnival food. Thank you to everyone that helped make that event happen.
The first quarter ended on Friday Oct. 25th and report cards from first quarter will be coming home the week of parent-teacher conferences; 11/18-11/22. If you students are struggling, we encourage you to reach out to their teacher as we have programs available to help them. After school homework club is available for 4th-8th Grades from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. There is free online one on one tutoring available online 24/7 through Skooli, please see your child's teacher if you're interested.
We are looking forward to November and invite you to join us for our annual Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 8th at 9 a.m. in the gym.

WILDCATS READ!
Reading 20 minutes a day is important because it can significantly improve your vocabulary, build empathy by allowing you to step into other people's perspectives, enhance critical thinking skills, improve memory, reduce stress, and generally boost your mental health by stimulating your brain and creating new neural connections; making it a valuable habit for overall well-being.

Wildcats Are Scientists!
In 8th grade physical science class, students wrapped up their unit on Newton's Laws of Motion.
The "Inertia Lab" consisted of 5 different stations where students could experiment with inertia in various forms, some with the additional factor of gravity, speed or coordination! The students were able to put their knowledge to work at each station, completing the experiment and answering the questions that went with each station. So many great discussions and "oh yeah!" moments happened., plus there were giggles from the students the whole time as they explored science hands-on.
