Week in Review-February 26-March 1, 2024
Last week was a very busy week! Peyton and Presley attended the Healthy Youth Conference in Fort Simpson. They engaged in a wide range of learning opportunities and got to meet a lot of students from all over the Dehcho. It was a very worthwhile conference! Students that stayed in Kakisa had fun learning at school.

Trapping Schedule
Monday, Day 1-Kakisa School Tent
· Everyone prepares for outdoor day tent
· Julien & Darcy make fire inside tent and prepare for day of training
· Julien & Darcy talk about safety, tips with traps, fire, safety around lake, how to handle fish hooks
· J&D talk about land rules and respect and safety with an axe and knife
Tuesday, Day 2-Kakisa School Tent
· Students prepare day tent
· J&D hands on learning on how to set rabbit & beaver traps and fish hooks
· Outdoor practice making fire and safety around the fire
· Make a plan/mapping weather check
· First aid kit
Wednesday, Day 3-Drive to Trapping Site
· Students prepare for day trip
· Jasna talks to students about safety/rules/day trip
· Lunch break
· Safety check
· Drive to site
· Set rabbit snares
· Set beaver/martin traps
· Make fire
· Drive back home safely
Thursday, Day 4-Drive to Trapping Site
· Drive to site
· Walk to snares
· Check snares
· Make shelter for survival/fire
· Lunch
· Ice fishing or nets
· Drive back home safely
Friday, Day 5-Drive to Trapping Site
· Students get ready for day trip
· Check snares
· Make fire
· Lunch
· Check nets and take out snares, nets
· Head home safely
Birthday Celebrations This Week
We'll celebrate Presley's birthday on Monday and Jaz's birthday on Tuesday!
Cold Weather Clothing
Dear Parents,
Please make sure students are dressed appropriately for on the land learning this week. Students will need: winter jackets, snow pants, warm boots, hats, scarves and mittens, and warm clothing. Students will not be spending time in the school this week.

March 18-22 March Break (no school)
March 25: Students go to HR for Parks and Recreation Swimming Lesson
March 28: STIP Day
March 29: Good Friday (holiday)
April 1: Easter Monday (holiday)
April 2-5: Aboriginal Games at Kakisa
April 9-14: Students in Edmonton at a Conference
April 9: Term 2 Report Cards are sent home
April 15-17: Oral Health Visit
April 22-26: Counsellor in town
