I hope everyone has stayed warm and has enjoyed this snowy, five day weekend! We weren't sure what to expect after last week's weather passed us by. A few changes due to school being cancelled:

1. Our three week grade pull for Tiger Time has moved to Tuesday at 7pm to give students time to submit assignments and teacher to grade them. New Tiger Time Statuses will be issued Wednesday, allowing students who have earned Flex time to choose a location (Library, Lair, or Gym).
2. The Senior Meeting and 9th-11th Opportunity Fair have been rescheduled for Tuesday during Tiger Time.
3. We have extended ticket sales for the Sweetheart Dance through Friday the 21st. The dance has been rescheduled for Saturday the 22nd, from 7-9:30pm, in the Lair. You don't have to come with a date- couples and friends welcome! Tickets can be purchased online (QR code below), or at the ASB office before school during lunch, or after school. Students must be in good standing to purchase a ticket.

Redmond qualified for Regional Marksmanship tournament for 2nd year in a row and competed in Anniston Alabama from 12-15 February. Our own BG Tiger VanDyne stood strong among 74 others sporter-class shooters and finished 29th…that’s 29th in the nation! Well done, and now prepping for next year.

"HEY YOU! You're someone's type! So come out and donate at one of the last blood drives of the year, hosted by BGHS HOSA & The American Red Cross on February 27th from 8am-1pm! Pink donation forms can be found in the Main Office and P7. Forms must be filled out and submitted by Monday February 24th, or else we can not guarantee you a donation appointment time. Donor forms can be submitted to Mr. Trezise's mailbox in the main office or his classroom P7.

Donors must be at least 16 years old (with parent permission).

The pre-order for yearbooks has ended. An additional 250 books were purchased and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. When those books are gone, there will not be any more opportunities to purchase a book for the 24/25 school year. Books are still $55 with an ASB card and $60 without an ASB card. Don't miss out!

High school credit can be earned for certain high school courses by taking and passing a challenge exam. This option is available to students in grades 8-12, with testing occurring annually in May at the Prairie High School Media Center. This is not the same as recovering an unearned credit. For information on credit recovery, please reach out to your school counselor.

Courses that are eligible for credit via challenge exams are:

• Algebra I

• Geometry

• English 9

• English 10

• Biology

• Washington State History

The first annual Clark County Battle of the Bands for high school students will be on May 31st, 2025, at the Columbia Tech Center Amphitheater. https://www.instagram.com/clarkcountybattleofthebands/#

This is a not-for-profit educational experience accessible to all students in Clark County, focusing on well-being through expression and career skill development through collaboration and professional mentorship. We also have over $2000 in prizes from Music World, School of Rock, and the LYNX National Arts and Media Camp.

Save the date! The tenth annual Battle Ground Public Schools Industry Fair will be held at Battle Ground High School on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5-7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Come meet with local employers to learn about apprenticeship opportunities and employment in fields such as health care, education, manufacturing, technology, construction and many more. There will also be a resume workshop in the high school’s career center from 3-6 p.m.

• Provide proof of ANY scholarship offers to Lexi Kiil in the counseling office by emailing kiil.lexi@battlegroundps.org or by bringing in a copy of your award letter. (Students who have been awarded scholarships are listed in the graduation program). Deadline is Friday, May 23.
• Let Kathy Ingham, Registrar, know to which college(s) you would like your FINAL transcripts sent by filling out a transcript request form. Deadline is Friday, June 20.
• Request for extra graduation tickets. Each graduate will receive six tickets. If you need more than six tickets, please fill out the online form or return the attached form to Lexi Kiil in the counseling office. Deadline to request tickets is Friday, May 30 by 3:00 pm.
• Yearbooks will be sold until we run out. Pre-purchase is recommended to guarantee a book. Yearbooks will be handed out in the Spring. Supplements will be added later. $55 with ASB or $60 without ASB. Purchase at the ASB windows.

• You are assured six tickets to graduation. Graduation starts at 7 pm on June 6 in the District Stadium.

• Caps & Gowns distributed. Balance due on delivery. If you cannot pick up your gown at this time, you may pick it up from your counselor or Lexi Kiil in the Counseling Office after April 9. All fees and fines must be paid and the High School and Beyond Plan must be completed before seniors can receive their gowns.

• The gown will be black for all graduates. School-appropriate attire must be worn under the gowns. The school dress code must be followed and appropriate shoes should be worn. Please note that graduates will be walking on turf in the stadium.

• In recognition of their scholastic achievement, graduating seniors with a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be awarded gold honor cords. The cords will be distributed at graduation practice. The Ille Tigre chapter of the National Honor Society will provide honor stoles for National Honor Society members

Last fall, Battle Ground Public Schools conducted a ThoughtExchange to gather ideas about student use of cellphones during school, school start times, school libraries and more. More than 2,200 people responded, including parents/guardians, students, staff members and community members. Thank you to everyone who participated! Your input helps guide decisions on these topics. Students in grades 8 and 9 are invited to take the new PSAT 8/9 on April 26. This optional test is designed to help as you start your high school journey. It will help you understand where you are and where you want to go, as well as assisting with preparing for future assessment tests. With your scores, you'll get customized guidance to help you explore careers that match your interests and skills and information to help you search for colleges. Battle Ground Public Schools’ specialized and alternative learning experience programs are accepting enrollment applications for the 2024-25 school year. The district offers specialized and alternative programs for students in kindergarten through high school. Please see each program’s enrollment page for details on availability.

• Character and Academics for the Marketplace (CAM) Academy - A grades 3-12 school focusing on English language arts, history, science, math and instruction in computer technology.

• Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education (CASEE) - A half-day program focused on science, technology, engineering and math on an 80-acre learning campus in Brush Prairie.

• Summit View High School - An individualized learning environment for students from ages 14-21 focusing on reaching graduation.

• Open Doors GED - A program through Summit View High School for students ages 16-21 who are behind in credits and want to earn their GED.

• River HomeLink - An accredited public school providing parent-partnered educational options and support for students.

• Battle Ground Virtual Academy - BGVA provides a high-quality online learning experience where students are assigned a teacher with whom they and their parents meet regularly. Parents and guardians also play an active role in their child's online education.

Do you know how to be a good digital citizen? With students completing more work online, it is increasingly important that they understand how to recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world. Parents and guardians can learn more on the district’s parent resources webpage, including managing technology at home, resources for digital citizenship and setting up parental controls.

The Running Start program allows students who have completed 10th or 11th grade but have not yet started the next grade to enroll in college courses tuition-free, earning both high school and college credits simultaneously. This program can help students get a head start on their college education while saving money. New for this summer: Students who have completed 10th grade can now participate in Running Start during the summer term, taking up to 10 credits.

Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, ensuring cost is not a barrier to participation. For more details, including how to apply and access fee waivers, please contact your school counselor or visit the Running Start webpage.
