Wow! We have arrived at the last week of school. The 2023-24 school year will be the year that we remember many great things that happened at Mary C. Williams Elementary. We celebrated Mrs. Oot's retirement in September after serving for twelve wonderful years as principal. We welcomed new staff members and new students to our Redhawk community of learners. Over the course of the school year, our students have grown so much in their academics and taken pride and ownership of their learning and behavior by modeling our school-wide expectations to S.O.A.R. (Safety, Ownership, Achievement, Respect). I want to take this opportunity to thank our staff, students, families and community partners for welcoming me to Williams back in October. I love the diverse community of learners here and have learned that this school has a long history of churches and community partners who give their time and resources to support our efforts. I would like to wish our fifth graders all the best as they move on to middle school! I am also looking forward to welcoming our new Kindergarteners in August. If you know any families who live in our district who have a child who will be five by August 31st, please encourage them to go ahead and register for Kindergarten. The Mary C. Williams staff is a hardworking team of educators and we look forward to all the new memories to be made when school begins on August 27, 2024!
Take a look at the schedule of awards ceremonies we have planned this week. We hope you are able to join us to celebrate our students' hard work! We will also be sending home a free book and summer reading log with students to encourage summer reading. We encourage students to turn in the reading log when they return to school in August and we will have a special prize for them.
Over the summer we will send out reminders about updating information such as your emergency contact list and any changes in phone numbers. We will also post school supply lists on our school's website. Until then, I hope that your family has a safe and special summer of making family memories together.
