Can you believe 2024 is almost over?! We hope all of our students and staff enjoy these next few weeks off and take time to relax, recharge and make memories with loved ones.

On Thursday, December 19, drop-off times for all buses will run approximately 3 1/2 hours earlier than normal in the afternoon due to the early release. If you have a younger student that requires a parent or guardian present at their stop, please make the necessary arrangements and plan ahead to ensure someone is there on time.

As we look forward to the upcoming spring semester, we want to emphasize the critical importance of consistent attendance as we enter this key period of the school year. The second semester is pivotal for reinforcing the skills and concepts that students have developed, as well as for preparing them for important assessments. With STAAR testing, TELPAS language proficiency testing, and end-of-course exams just around the corner, every day of instruction counts. Regular attendance ensures that students are fully prepared for these assessments and have the opportunity to participate in valuable review and practice sessions that will directly impact their performance.

We understand that life can be busy, but we urge you to prioritize your child’s attendance during this crucial time. Missing class can lead to gaps in knowledge and leave students feeling unprepared for these high-stakes exams. Your continued support in ensuring your child is present and engaged will make a significant difference in their success this semester. We are excited to partner with Sames Auto Group for the third annual Drive Sames 4 Education Perfect Attendance Initiative in Bastrop ISD. The grand prize for the 2024-2025 school year is a brand-new 2024 Jeep Compass from Sames Auto Group. To sweeten the deal, the winner of this new vehicle will have their tax, title, and license fees covered by Prosperity Bank.

Bastrop ISD has multiple opportunities available for parents and the community to volunteer and mentor in our schools. Visit our website at www.bisdtx.org/volunteer to learn more and complete the required application.

A volunteer application must be completed and approved if you plan to attend school field trips with your student.

Mr. Jim Williams is an awesome mentor to one of Bluebonnet's 4th graders. This pair has been together since the 23-24 school year, and they are a perfect match.

A routine has been established every Wednesday morning, a visit of catching up on each other's news and a friendly competitive game of chess. They both look forward to seeing each other and Mr. Williams can often be heard speaking highly of his mentee.

We appreciate the kindness and reliability of this wonderful man and all that he means to our special 4th grade student. Thank you Mr. Williams!
