GISD Dyslexia Informer
October 2018
Happy Fall!
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month! We are trying to get the word out about Dyslexia. Have you seen us advertised on the large billboard outside Firewheel Town Center on Highway 78? Garland ISD’s Dyslexia Department has great things planned for this month, including a special screening of the movie “The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia” on October 18th with special guests Region 10 ESC and the Dallas Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. All campuses in GISD will celebrate Dyslexia Awareness from October 15-19. Information about famous Dyslexic authors, actors, and entrepreneurs will be shared. Additional community events can be found listed below.
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month
Dyslexia is more than reading and writing difficulties
Why should your child read every day?
Quote of the Month
“Students: inside each of [you] is greatness. NO matter how difficult it is for any of you to learn…that has NOTHING to do with how brilliant you all are.”
-Henry Winkler (Actor, Comedian, Director, Producer, and Author)
