PSAT Parent Information for Juniors
Dear Parent/Guardian:
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024 all juniors will participate in the PSAT administration.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that 11th graders take in October. Like the SAT, it measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career. The PSAT/NMSQT has two parts: the Reading and Writing Test, and the Math Test.
When your child takes the PSAT/NMSQT, they open the door to more benefits than you might think.
1. It's excellent practice for the SAT. Both tests measure the same knowledge and skills and ask the same types of questions, so PSAT/NMSQT takers will know what to expect on the SAT.
2. It's the first step to a free, personalized SAT study plan. Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy uses your child's PSAT/NMSQT score to create a customized SAT study plan with sample questions that focus on areas where they need help.
3. It shows student progress on the road to college. The PSAT/NMSQT is part of the SAT Suite of Assessments, a series of tests beginning in eighth grade that shows your child and their teachers whether your child is on track for college.
4. It shows which Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses your child is ready for. The PSAT/NMSQT Score Report indicates which college-level AP courses your child has the potential to succeed in.
The PSAT/NMSQT is administered in a digital format. Your child will take the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, October 29th, using their own school-issued device.

This is a scheduled event and we ask all parents to log in by 6:00 pm so that you do not miss the opportunity hear any of the important presentations.
Jacqueline C. (parent) shared at Parent Council that the Tenth Grade Presentation is
“The best presentation/meeting for all four years. It should be mandatory for all parents to attend.”
Four Essential Presentations for Parents
We will offer parents four presentations on the following topics:
How to go out on Co-Op or Internship in Future Years: Parents, learn all the information needed to help support your student in obtaining a Co-Op position while in school.
MCAS Preparations/Parent Support: Get an overview of how the MCAS exam affects your student’s graduation and how your student’s achievement can provide a scholarship for after high school. There will also be an overview on support systems available at Cape Cod Tech.
Guidance Overview: Learn all about career planning, PSATs, SATs, college search and the ASVAB. School Counselors will also provide information so you can safely support your teen as they navigate today’s high school social scene.
The Dangers of Vaping: This workshop will provide information on the dangers of vaping and other substances for parents and their students. It will also share with parents the new age of marijuana.
Parents/Caretakers of CCT Tenth Graders,
Below is the information to log into Tenth Grade Virtual Presentation Meeting. We will be recording the meeting for those not able to attend. I would recommend you click on the link for Zoom at least 15 minutes prior to the meeting at 6:00 pm. It may ask you to download the software to your computer. Please follow the prompts as the program requests. You may need to type in the Meeting ID depending on your web browser and computer. It is different for everyone. The first few minutes may be dedicated to technical support. If you do not have audio or video capabilities on your computer, you may be able to join by calling the numbers below. We will mute you during the meeting. We ask that you do not unmute yourself. If you have a question there will be a chat feature that we will use.

Attendance Matters
Tardy
If a student is not present in the class/ shop at the time attendance is taken in the morning, they will be marked tardy and will have to report to the main office for a tardy pass. Accumulation of excess tardies as defined in the student handbook will result in disciplinary action. Being on time is an employability skill. Cape Cod Tech not only trains students in skills specific to their technical area but CCT also teaches professionalism and employability skills to the standards of the industries in which they represent.
