The Lion's Roar
November 1,2024
A Note From Mrs. Bowden...
It is November 1st! Where has the time gone? We are in the fastest 9 weeks of the school year. Progress reports will be posted., Veteran's Day Remembrance, Basketball games kick-off, Chess Competition and more!
As we move into this new month, I am excited to remind our school community of the core values that guide us: people first, growth mindset and agency. November is time to reflect on gratitude and growth, and I encourage you to ask your students how they are incorporating the core valoues into their school day and daily interactions with peers.
Here's to a productive and inspiring month ahead!
Just a few reminders:
- Attendance matters. Please refer to the Parent - Student Handbook for school policy.
- Dress Code. It is enforced and students will receive consequences for not adhering to dress code.
- Student ID. Is part of dress code and part of safety and security.
- Tardiness. This results in missing class time and instruction. Students need to arrive to school and class on time.
- Please remind your students to think about what they say to others and to keep their hands & feet to theirselves.
It is a great day to be a LION.

University of Texas at Austin - Top 5% Auto Admission Class of '26
LPS Juniors and Families -
As you may know, students who graduate in the top 10% of their class could qualify for automatic admission to many public universities in Texas through the Top 10% Rule. Senate Bill 175, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, allows The University of Texas at Austin to limit automatic admission to 75 percent of the university’s enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students.
The University has determined that it will automatically admit all eligible summer/fall 2026 and spring 2027 freshman applicants who rank within the top 5% of their high school graduating classes. A letter from University President Jay C. Hartzell is attached to this correspondence.
Please let me know what questions you may have!
