OPEN HOUSE - SUNDAY NOVEMBER 3, 2024 - 12:00 TO 2:00
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of our students, we are pleased
to announce an exciting new initiative: a Student Success and Accountability Program at
Grosse Pointe South High School. This program is the result of a partnership between our
school, the Family Center of Grosse Pointe & Harper Woods, and Face Addiction Now (FAN),
an organization dedicated to raising awareness about substance use and addiction.
Our goal is to proactively educate and empower students to make informed, healthy decisions
about substance use. We understand that conversations about substance use can be difficult, but
they are essential. This program is designed not only to prevent substance use but also to create a
supportive environment where students feel empowered to make healthy choices and reach out
for help if needed.
The program will include:
Educational Workshops: FAN will provide the evidence-based, age-appropriate
educational sessions that provide students with the latest information on the risks of
substance use, including alcohol, vaping, and other drugs.
Resources for Families: The Family Center will offer ongoing support, including access
to educational materials, community services, and family counseling resources if needed.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting the health and safety of our students. We recognize
the importance of engaging parents and families in this process, as you play a crucial role in
supporting your child’s well-being and making sure they are equipped with the knowledge and
tools to navigate challenges they may face. Together, we can make a positive difference and help
our children grow up in a safe and healthy environment.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact Officer Jim
LaBeau at (586) 295-0153 or Labeauj@gpschools.org.
Sincerely,
Officer Jim LaBeau
