Central Garden
The Central Elementary School Garden is officially planted and growing for the upcoming season! Students in 2nd through 5th grade have been working for the last two months to weed and prep garden beds, plant seeds and starts, and tend to native plants and herbs. The garden is growing over 20 varieties of vegetables and fruits this year which we will harvest in the late summer and fall and share with our school community. Come check out our garden and our beautiful mural recently painted by Betsy Petersen! Thank you to our local volunteers and sponsors who have made this space happen including Bear Creek Organic Farm, Coveyou Scenic Farm, the Master Gardeners, and the Health Department of Northwest Michigan!
WATERERS NEEDED! We are looking for volunteers to help our garden thrive this summer, if you are interested in helping water and harvest during the summer months please email Mrs. Thorin at hthorin@northemen.org, we would love any help we can get!

New at Central Elementary School - Move Up Day
On Wednesday, June 5th, all classes will be participating in our first school wide Move Up Day.
Each grade level will be visiting next year’s classrooms and teachers. During their visits they will complete an activity that will be part of a whole school display to kick off the new school year in the fall. It is a great opportunity for students to get to see their classrooms and connect with the teachers they will be working with next year. 5th graders will get to go back to Kindergarten and visit the classrooms where they first started out here at Central.
