Pictured above are Evening Street winners of the Harding-Buller Foundation of Worthington poster contest. The Harding-Buller Foundation of Worthington invited Worthington Elementary Schools to participate in a poster contest aimed at promoting positive mental health within the Worthington community. This unique opportunity was open to fourth and fifth grade students, who were asked to visually express what the phrase "The Perfectly Imperfect You" meant to them. In addition to their artwork, students submitted essays describing the meaning behind their posters. The Foundation offered monetary prizes to the winners. Crosswalk at Evening Street and 161
Carol Leahy, the crossing guard at Evening Street and 161, would like to remind those who cross at the intersection that children should cross on the side where she is standing. She is concerned that the safety of children is compromised when children cross or use a scooter on the other side of the street. If children are accompanied by their parent when crossing, they may use the side nearest the McConnell Art Center. Carol has been our crossing guard for 27 years, she does not want a mishap on her watch. Worthington police will be making more of a presence to monitor the intersection.
End of the School Year
Next week is our last week of school for the 2024-25 School Year! We will graduate our fifth grade class at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22nd, the last day of school. This really is a special group of young people. They were in kindergarten when I announced on the PA that school would be closed and they would be learning online due to a virus named COVID. Special thanks to their parents for making certain they hopped on ZOOM for learning. Miss Reichenbach, Mrs. Zettler, Mrs. Hohman, and Mrs. Lane did their best to entertain the children!!!
We had a fabulous Super Games day! Thanks to Mr. Brinegar for once again making magic happen at Evening Street!!! He is pictured below with his assistant for the day, his daughter Charlie. He delivered on a perfect day. Thanks to PTA for making Super Games a reality!!!
Good Luck Mrs. Warner & Mrs. Wenger!
The Evening Street Café will not be the same next school year! Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Wenger are both retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Warner has been at Evening Street for nineteen years. Prior to coming to Evening Street she worked in the kitchen at Kilbourne High School for six years. She have given 25 years of service to Worthington Schools. Prior to that time she served in the United States Army. Mrs. Warner plans to travel in retirement. She recently purchased a new car with a hitch for her camper!
Mrs. Wenger worked in the Evening Street kitchen for ten years. She previously worked at Watterson High School's cafeteria. She and her husband, who will retire as well, plan to take a lot of road trips!
We thank them both for serving our children countless lunches over the years.
Please feel free to have your child write them a note of appreciation for all they have given to Evening Street.
Congratulations to the high school recipients of the Evening Street PTA Scholarships, Meredith Peters and Margaret Malloy. The scholars are pictured above with Ms. Rykowski and PTA president Marisa Yitsis.
