Rebel Review
May 17, 2024
Principal Message
South Families,
Am I really focusing my newsletter this week on Graduation for Seniors and Final Exams and Closing of the 2023-24 School Year for our Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors? It really does feel like yesterday that I was introducing myself to you as South's new principal. At any rate, I am so proud of the great year that we have had and the many fantastic accomplishments at South High School this year.
My final "Rebel Review" will be sent to everyone on May 31 and will focus on celebrating the year. I think this week it is important to give you the information you need for next week that will be informative for graduation plans and/or final exam week.
As always, please reach out to our office anytime you need assistance!

Senior Information
Congratulations Seniors:
I want to once again congratulate our Seniors. This week marks an important milestone in your journey. We are looking forward to a great graduation ceremony this Tuesday, May 21. Please see below for the important information and reminders about graduation practice on Tuesday morning and the actual Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday evening.
Commencement Information
Our 2024 Commencement is set for Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30pm. At this point the ticket window is closed for graduation tickets. I did want to highlight a few important reminders for the Commencement ceremony:
- Commencement will begin promptly at 6:30pm
- After the ceremony, the street outside the theatre will be closed to traffic for an hour. This will allow you photo opportunities with your graduates!
- Students should arrive in the theatre by 5:30pm.
- Parking tickets can still be purchased through Playhouse Square if you did not purchase at the time you obtained tickets. Go to Playhouse Square Parking Garage and put in the May 21 date.
- There is a Cleveland Guardians game occuring on Tuesday evening downtown. I only mention this for your planning purposes as you may want to plan a few extra minutes to get downtown and into your parking.
Graduation Practice - May 21, 8:30am
All seniors who plan to participate in Commencement must attend the practice on May 21. Seniors should report to the gym at South by 8:30am. We will take buses to Playhouse Square to practice. Bus will return to South between 11:00pm to 12:00 pm. If you do not attend the graduation practice, you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. If you have any concerns, please email Mr. Miller at david.miller@weschools.org.
Senior Chromebook Return
Seniors who have not returned their Chromebooks should plan to return them upon arriving to school on Tuesday morning for Graduation practice.
Senior Transcript Requests
Guidance visited senior English classes during their last week in order to explain how to request final transcripts and end of the year information. The link explaining how to request this information can be found is here: Senior Final Transcript Video
Senior Diploma Pick-up
At the Commencement ceremony, you will be handed a Graduation Cover. This is not your diploma. The diploma you place into the cover will be available for pick-up in the main office of school beginning on Wednesday, May 22 anytime during school hours.
