The Woodlands High School
Highlander Happenings October 28 – November 9, 2019
ACADEMICS:
ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:
DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 3, 2019.
The exam ordering process is TWO parts. Both have to be completed by the November 3, 2019, deadline to guarantee an exam on test day in May 2020, and avoid late fees, unless specifically described below. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that both required steps listed are completed.
Step 1. Register for the exam on the https://myap.collegeboard.org/login website using the Join Code provided by your instructor.
*Do NOT create duplicate accounts with College Board
If you do not know your login information begin by using the ‘Forgot Username’ option on the myap.collegeboard.org website – follow the prompts
If you cannot confirm that you have or don’t have an existing account after completing that process, call College Board at 888.225.5427 and they can determine if you have an existing account and they will provide the username. You will then need to go and complete the ‘Forgot Password’ process if you still do not remember your password.
If you are planning on taking an AP Exam but will not be in the course at TWHS during the 2019-2020 school year, you must see Mrs. Shepard in the Grade Level Office to receive the EXAM ONLY Join Code. Students in Exam Only sections will not have access to the online prep materials provided by College Board. The deadline for Exam Only sections is November 3, 2019.
If you are not in the class in the Fall Semester but will be in the class in the Spring Semester, you will register on the myap.collegeboard.org website by the February 23, 2020, deadline.
Step 2. Pay for the exam(s) through the TWHS School Cash Online Webstore.
Exams are $100/exam ($55/exam for students in the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program - https://www.myschoolapps.com/).
After the November 3, deadline there is a $40/exam late fee for students enrolled in the class in the fall semester, Exam Only sections, and/or Homeschool students.
It is the student’s responsibility to check their myap.collegeboard.org account to make sure that the appropriate exams are ordered and keep a copy of the receipt from the School Cash Online Web Store purchase. A confirmation letter will be sent out after the November 3, deadline for students to check their registration for accuracy.
If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Shepard in the Grade Level Office on the Senior Campus (936-709-1219) or your teacher for assistance.

SWIM AND DIVE: The woodlands swim and dive team competed in the Greater Houston Duel Meet Tournament against seven other schools this past Thursday and and Saturday. Both boys and girls set new 200 freestyle relay records, as did Tyler Hulet in the 100 back. The guys 400 freestyle relay also broke the meet record. The girls team ended up winning the tournament and the boys team came in a very close second. Come out and support your Highlander swim team as they compete at Klein high school on Saturday at 9 am.

TWHS ART TRUST: Have you ever noticed the 44 works of art by established Texas artists that are permanently displayed in the hallways at school? This is The Woodlands High School Art Collection and we are celebrating our 10th anniversary! This collection of art works has been selected and purchased by our students. Each year we add new works to the collection and our next selection process has begun. Submissions open on October 1st and will be accepted until November 8th for consideration into our collection for 2020. We invite established Texas artists who have had work accepted into a juried show and are over 18 to submit works to be considered for acquisition in 2020. Click HERE to learn more.
After November 8th, our student committee will narrow down the works submitted to 12-15 artworks that will be voted on by the entire student body in late January. Posters of the artworks will be on view in all classrooms by mid-January and the original pieces will be displayed in the cafeteria just prior to voting. The students will purchase as many as possible of the pieces that receive the most votes on January 30th.
The artworks are purchased through funds set aside by Student Council from the Homecoming Dance, however, the framing, lighting and conservation of these pieces need funding. Consider helping with that funding and show your support for The Woodlands High School Art Trust by joining our "One Hundred Friends of Art." Our goal is to have 100 arts supporters make an annual donation to support our cause. Donations are tax deductible and start as low as $10!! Visit our website to make a contribution: www.twhsat.org
The Woodlands High School Art Trust (TWHSAT) a 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2011 to help maintain, conserve and display the student-selected, student-purchased collection of established artists at The Woodlands High School. The vision for the TWHS Art Trust is to see the art collection grow each year and to have it extend through the hallways of the high school. We offer FREE tours of our collection to schools and other groups by appointment.
For more information on The Woodlands High School Art Trust please visit our website: www.twhsat.org or contact Susan Cosculluela at twhsat@gmail.com
