A Message from Ms. Peterson
Hello MCP3 Families!
I hope this message finds you all doing well. Last week on Friday, MCP3 held our very first assembly of the year! Class of 2039 did a great job of learning the assembly expectations and participating. We got to introduce each homeroom's teachers and celebrate the classroom scholars' mascot. Each class has a short special cheer to represent the mascot that we do at the beginning of each assembly. We then sang, "If you're Happy and You Know it" as an entire school! Scholars REALLY enjoyed this song! Future assemblies will include shout outs to scholars for attendance, commitment awards, and progress in their classroom. We will also play fun games and learn more songs together!
Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, September 13th. MCP staff have a Professional Development day and there is NO scholar attendance. All monthly PD days are on our MCP calendar (attached below), please plan ahead. Thank you!
With Love and Respect,
Ms. Peterson
Scholars play in various Interest Centers
Dramatic Play
"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn."
O. Fred Donaldson
Music
"Play is the foundation of learning, creativity, self-expression, and constructive problem-solving. It’s how children wrestle with life to make it meaningful."
Susan Linn
Writing
"Play is not frivolous. It is not something to fit in after completing all the important stuff. Play the important stuff. Play is a drive, a need, a brain building must-do”
Denita Dinger
Classroom Safety Commitments
Walking Feet
Scholars are encouraged to use their "Walking Feet" throughout the classroom and hallways to help keep everyone safe.
Listening Ears
"Listening Ears" encourages children to listen attentively when others are talking. This helps to keep the classroom safe because everyone will feel heard and understood and scholars will be able to follow the directions of their teachers.
Gentle Hands
"Gentle Hands" teaches scholars a respectable way of touching others. Gentle Hands can be used when scholars are trying to get a friend's attention, such as when asking for a toy or wanting to say "hello."
What are the scholars learning?
Theme 1: Awesome Me
Week 3: Social Me
Did you know that by age three, 85% of the brain is wired for social development? Social wiring is crucial for children to find success in a group setting and the classroom is the perfect place to develop social skills. This week children are learning about the skills they need to navigate their interactions with others.
Vocabulary Words this week:
sociable
