Working together; succeeding together.
As Treaty people, we take this moment to honor the lands of Treaties 4 and 6, and all they have provided to us and our families across many generations. These lands have long served as traditional meeting grounds, gathering places, and traveling routes for the Cree, Dene, Nakota, Dakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibway peoples since time immemorial. We also recognize these lands as the homeland of Métis Nation Eastern Region II.
We honor the ancestors whose footsteps have shaped these lands. We acknowledge that our use of these lands has come at a profound cost, including the impacts of colonialism and the residential school system. With this recognition, we commit to working together toward reconciliation and forging a path forward that honors the past and builds a better future for all.

Town Clean Up
Once again this year, we had our buddy groups do a town clean up. We focused on our green spaces this year as we know that they can accumulate a lot of garbage over the winter. Lots of bags were tossed into the dumpster. We hope this helps our students to take pride in their community.
Flower Shop in the K Room
The new imaginary play center in the Kindergarten room is a garden shop. The students are taking orders, counting money and sorting flowers.
Junior NBA Tournament
This past weekend, PPCS hosted a Jr. NBA tournament for grade 3-6 on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the girls took the court with Humboldt, Hudson Bay and Porcupine attending. On Sunday, it was the boys' turn with Humboldt, Melfort, and Porcupine Plain attending. It was an amazing weekend and I think everyone had a blast. It would not have been possible without the hard work of a lot of people. Mr. Harbor was my right hand man helping out with reffing, canteen, and even coaching. Our parents who looked after the canteen, even making some impromptu Rice Krispie squares. Alicia Curle and Matthew Ruether who looked after some coaching when I had to be in two places at once. Our youth refs, Medrick, Philip, Earl, Mae Joy, Amitiel, Matthew, Gavin and Hana. We absolutely could not have done it without them, and they did a phenomenal job! Aubree S, Lexi M, and Danica T who helped out with coaching throughout the year. Their leadership and knowledge was greatly appreciated.
Last, but not least, to our players. You gave 100% all day, in every game and made for some very exciting basketball, especially when it was Porcupine v. Porcupine. You gave the fans a great show and were wondersful ambassadors for your school and community.
I can't wait for next year.

Volunteers and Athletes of the Month
Volunteer of the Month
Mr. Mielke
Mr. Mielke gets the nod this month. Many behind the scenes roles are picked up by Mr. Mielke, especially the ugly stuff nobody else wants to do, such as canteen shifts and financial reporting after events. He is also gearing up for their first ever home Jr. NBA tourney. Thank you for all the extra things and support you bring to BEARS Athletics, they do not go unnoticed.
Athletes of the Month
Zack Kirkland
Zack has been honing his badminton skills in an impressive manner. He works hard to improve and doesn’t shy away from work or a challenge. Zack is a very sportsmanlike player that brings a positive vibe to our gym. You know what they say, April showers bring May flowers and that Zac Kirkland is pretty good at badminton. Great job Zack.
Brylee Smith
Brylee Smith put together a solid showing in badminton with her partner in crime Amitiel. Brynlee’s strength, smarts and leadership can be noticed immediately as it has helped paved they way for the doubles duo to have a strong year. Being only grade 10 we are excited to see what the pair can do in the future. Nice work Brynlee.
Looking for Coaches
Bears Athletics is looking for track and field coaches for the upcoming season. Please contact the school if your would be interested in helping out.

Check Your Punch Card Balance
If you have made contributions to punch cards since April 1, they will be added tomorrow (May 5) morning.
We have had a significant punch card update.
In the past, as we got new accounts we simply added them to the bottom of the list so that our families would not have to relearn their place in the list of accounts. That has become very difficulty to manage. As a result, we have alphabetized the list on our end and updated account numbers to reflect your child's current grade followed by the last 4 digits of your phone number (i.e. 113213, grade 11 phone number ends in 3213).
Punch cards have been updated to the most recent values heading into semester 2. Please let us know if there is an error.
