Lakeview Elementary April 2024
April 2024
Principal Update
As April begins, we're buzzing with anticipation and reflection here at Lakeview Elementary. With the end of the school year in sight, we're taking a moment to marvel at the incredible growth and resilience our students have shown. From our youngest kindergarteners to our seasoned fifth graders, each child has brought their own unique energy to our school community, and I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.
As we gear up for testing season, I want to emphasize our unwavering belief in our students' abilities. Our dedicated teachers have been working tirelessly to prepare our students, instilling confidence and ensuring they're fully equipped to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. I have no doubt that they'll rise to the occasion with the same determination and enthusiasm they've shown all year long.
With spring in full swing, I'm thrilled to share some exciting news about upcoming activities and events for our students. From field days to kindergarten round-up and end-of-year celebrations, there's plenty of fun and excitement on the horizon. As we journey through these final weeks together, let's treasure the memories we've made and eagerly anticipate the adventures that lie ahead.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families for your unwavering support and partnership throughout this school year. Your dedication to your child's education is truly appreciated, and I feel privileged to work alongside you in shaping their academic journey. Together, we'll make the most of these final weeks and create lasting memories for our Lakeview family.
MCA Testing Reminders
Testing Dates:
- MCA Reading - 4/9 - 4/11
- MCA Math - 4/16 - 4/18
- MCA Science Starts (grade 5 only) - 4/30-5/2
Testing Tips for Families:
- Encourage your child to approach state testing with a growth mindset, emphasizing that it's an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and growth rather than just about a score.
- Prioritize healthy habits like getting enough sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast to optimize cognitive function during state testing. These simple practices can significantly improve focus and overall performance.
- Maintain open communication with your child throughout the state testing period, acknowledging their feelings of stress or nervousness as normal. Provide reassurance and encouragement, emphasizing your pride in their efforts and offering unwavering support
I wanted to express my gratitude for your invaluable feedback and patience as we've fine-tuned our pick-up and drop-off procedures for the safety and well-being of our Lakeview students. Throughout the year, we've made strides in enhancing efficiency and safety, and your cooperation has been instrumental in this process.
As we continue to prioritize safety, I kindly ask for your continued adherence to our procedures. Please remember to use Summer Ave for entering the parking lot, taking a left and an immediate right. In the event that the lot is full, we kindly request that you wait at the stop sign until space becomes available in your designated line.
For the safety of our students, we urge parents to refrain from using Winter Ave and Abbott, or coming up Abbott. Your cooperation in following these guidelines ensures a safe environment for all.
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
