PRINCIPAL PENOYER'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Ahoy, Patriot Families!
Are you missing a stroller? A black double decker stroller was left behind on Curriculum Night. Please claim it if it's yours. We will be donating it at the end of the month if it is not picked up!
Check out the PTO Updates link above. The order form for RED Spirit Shirts should be in there. We have plenty of Grades 4-6 BLUE shirts left. Send an email to yourlibertynews@gmail.com to let our PTO know what size you need!
Please help your child learn their school identification number. They use this for breakfast and lunch. This number will stay with them through their graduation from high school, so the earlier they can learn it, the better!
Monkey Bars! Yes, we have them and yes, the kids love them. A few reminders to talk about with your child:
1. Hands will get blisters/tears the first few weeks of the year. Take it easy and give hands a break from the bars to let them heal. Hands will toughen up/callouses will form and they'll be good to go!
2. We have had a few broken bones, all from skipping and/or trying to jump with both hands to the next bar. The rules are slow down/take your time, hands only (no hanging upside down!) and take one bar at a time (no skipping) from the same direction/starting point.
Friday, August 30th is our first themed Spirit Day of the year: College Colors Day! Across the United States, College Colors Day is celebrated every year on the Friday before Labor Day. Join us by wearing the colors of your family's favorite college, trade school or any school that you love!
We have our first Family Spirit Night at Bahama Bucks on September 4th from 3-9pm. 20% of our sales go directly to Liberty. No flyer needed to be shown, just show up, enjoy The Ultimate Tropical Desert Experience, and raise money for the school. There will also be a contest for the class that has the most students show up for the event. The class that has most students show up, each get a Free Sno VIP card for a free shaved ice.
Sail on and enjoy your day!

LIBERTY CLASSES AND COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT
There will be two types of enrichment classes offered at Liberty this Fall.
1. Our District Community Education Department contracts with outside vendors to provide enrichment experiences, such as sports, arts and games. A flyer advertising these Fall Enrichment classes went home this week
2. Our Liberty Staff will be offering classes, such as running/fitness, art, steam and AR/reading. We have finalized our dates and a flyer should be going home by Friday. I will also include the attachment in next week's Loop. Clubs will start in September.
SOCIAL WORKER NEWS
Hello Families,
I would like to introduce myself. I am Chelsea Stanton, School Social Worker at Liberty. Social workers across Paradise Valley School District facilitate Lunch Bunch groups. Lunch Bunch is an opportunity for a small group of students to eat together in the “Patriot Pad” room and when the weather gets cooler on the outside tables. Lunch bunch can provide opportunities for kids to build social skills, develop closer relationships with their peers and/or to enjoy time with a smaller group of peers in a quiet setting. If you think your child would benefit from joining a lunch bunch group please email me or call me so we can discuss. If your child is interested in joining a lunch bunch group to be a peer mentor there will be a sign up sheet in the classroom and I will send home a permission slip.

MESSAGE FROM TRANSPORTATION
PVSchools is making all attempts to avoid route cancellations, which will sometimes mean our buses may arrive or depart late this school year. These delays, while unfortunate, will better accommodate competing needs for our already short-staffed bus-driving workforce. Parents and guardians with children who ride a bus should anticipate delays of up to 30-45 minutes in some cases.
In PVSchools, we overcome challenges together, and this particular situation is no different. Here are some ways that our community can help.
Is it possible and safe to walk or ride a bike to school? Not only will this help instill a good foundation of health and wellness through activity, but it will also help to reduce the delays in our bus schedule.
Have friends and neighbors with children at the same or a neighboring school? Carpooling is a great way to show our community strength.
Is adding a school drop-off to your morning commute possible? Not only is spending time in the car with your children a great way to learn more about what excited them at school, but it will also help us maintain bus routes for families without this option.
We know these transportation challenges impact our entire community and we are working hard to ensure that route cancellations are left as a last resort. If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining our bus driving team, visit our careers website.
