A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
Thank you to the many 5th grade families who visited Riverview to be a part of our annual African Drumming event. They put on a terrific performance for all of us! Our learners worked extremely hard and it was amazing to see how it all came together so well after only a week of rehearsals. We deeply appreciate the leadership and organization that Ms. Lindell-Woody provided as well as the flexibility of our entire staff to ensure this was a successful event. Finally, I simply can't say enough about the enthusiasm, passion, talent, and ability to teach that our visitor from Ghana, Mr. Fatawu Saybau brought to our school. He is a remarkable teacher and person!
This will be our last week of school before spring break. We hope that you and your children enjoy a little time away from school whether you choose to travel or stick close to home. Please continue to encourage your child to read, write, and practice their math skills during this time away from school if it is possible to do so. If you need access to a few extra books, please connect with your child's teacher. The Farmington Public Library is also a terrific community resource. Check it out if you are able to.
Best wishes for a great week! Read, read, read...
Shawn Peck

District Nurses & Health Aides Receive Life-Saving "Stop the Bleed" Training
ISD 192 nurses and health aides recently received "Stop the Bleed" training from the Dakota County Medical Reserve Corp. "Stop the Bleed" is a nationwide initiative to help empower, educate and train on how to stop severe bleeding. Nurses were trained on specialized techniques to recognize and stop severe bleeding injuries, equipping them with hands on skills to save lives and assist in a bleeding emergency. Each school was given a kit which will be located in the health office with the emergency supplies and each health office staff member is now certified in "Stop the Bleed".
It was a fun and very educational day!

Parent Input Forms Now Available To Provide Input on 25-26 Class Placement
For any parents/guardians seeking to provide input on your child's personality, strengths, interests, and learning style you can fill out a "Parent Input Form" and turn it in to the main office at RVES by Friday, April 4. This feedback will be used as part of our process to assign each learner a homeroom teacher. We have an extremely thorough process for class list creation that takes several months to complete. We want to create a great "fit" for every learner and create a strong sense of balance between classes.
You can click here to view the input form. You can make a digital copy, add your input, and share with principal Shawn Peck at speck@isd192.org. Or you can print it and bring a copy to the main office at any time before April 4th.

The RVES Caregiver Survey Results Are In; Thank You For Providing Your Feedback!
Thank you to the many families who took the time to complete the parent/caregiver survey that was shared at the beginning of February. We take this feedback very seriously and use it as an opportunity to reflect on our current approach/processes and make adjustments when necessary. Overwhelmingly, the feedback we received was extremely positive, however there are some areas where we know we can improve. Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be sharing the results of the survey with families.

ISD 192 Honored with "Excellence in Financial Reporting" for 18th Straight Year
Farmington Area Public Schools and Independent School District 192 has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by The Association of School Business Officials International for the 18th straight year. This certificate recognizes school districts that uphold the highest standards of financial reporting and transparency.
The district earned the Certificate of Excellence for its exemplary Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. “For over half a century, ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting has been the gold standard for promoting and recognizing excellence in financial transparency,” said Jim Rowan, executive director of ASBO International. “Clear and accurate financial reporting is crucial for engaging school communities and building their trust. Districts that earn the COE have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to these principles," Rowan said.
Participation in the COE program highlights a school district’s dedication to financial accountability. Submitted ACFRs are reviewed by a panel of experienced financial professionals, who provide constructive feedback to further enhance the quality of future reports. Districts that meet the program’s requirements are awarded the Certificate of Excellence, a distinction that also supports bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.

We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
Keep On Reading Every Night at Home! It Makes a HUGE Difference!
