Chaichin Chen honored as Outstanding Librarian at RILA Conference
OLIS is conducting a statewide survey to better understand the continuing education needs for all library staff in Rhode Island. The OLIS team will use the survey results to inform and improve our CE offerings and communication. Survey will close on June 30.
OLIS awarded 15 Library of Rhode Island (LORI) Grants totaling $255,000 to RI libraries through the 2023 LORI Grant Program. LORI Grants are supported through the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and funded through the IMLS Grants to States program under the Library Services and Technology Act. The 2023 LSTA sub-grants are for the period of May through September 2023.

The very first NLS Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, June 26, with a kickoff event featuring the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, who will welcome all participants and read a picture book for our young readers. The kickoff will be followed by weekly author talks and story times and music, starting on Thursday, June 29, with Shelby Van Pelt, author of the New York Times bestselling novel Remarkably Bright Creatures.
