ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of May 5, 2024
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
BOYS VOLLEYBALL - # 1 SEED IN THE CAL TOURNAMENT
The Boys Volleyball team earned the number one seed in the Cape Atlantic League Tournament! First round will be on Monday, May 13th at 4:00 pm here at EHTHS vs Oakcrest.
GIRLS LACROSSE - CAL TOURNAMENT
The girls lacrosse team is the number four seed in the Cape Atlantic League Tournament! First round will be on Tuesday, May 14th at 4:00 pm at the Tennessee Avenue fields in Ocean City.
SOFTBALL - CAL TOURNAMENT
The softball team is the number 5 seed in the Cape Atlantic League Tournament! First round will be Monday, May 13th at 4:00 pm at Absegami.
GOLF
On Monday, the Eagles flew north to Charleston Springs to compete in the South Jersey Group IV Sectional tournament. The team's efforts on the day earned them 8th place in the group. Senior Captain Johnny Neveling (75) led the way finishing 21st out of 80 players, while Chase Adomaitis placed 37th.
On Wednesday, the Lady Eagles flew west to Pinelands to compete in the final CAL girls' event of the season. It was a great day with three of our young ladies placing in the top 10 out of 32 girls. Freshman Camille More and Junior Olivia Nehmad led the way with matching 46s while Sophomore Hazel Burgan (48) was close behind.
TENNIS
John Liberi (10) had to step in and play 3rd singles in our match against Hammonton. He did an amazing job. Not only did John win, but our team won the day collectively. Go Eagles! Next up Middle Township.
BASEBALL
Record: 14-7
Recent Results:
5/3 - EHT 7 Holy Spirit 3
The Eagles stole 12 bases on their way to a 7-3 victory. Eli Gordy picked up the win on the mound, his line for the day 5 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 5 strikeouts. Mike Baxter was 2-4, with 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases.
5/4 - Washington Twp. 7 EHT 6
Eagles fell in the second round of the diamond classic. Jack Conroy was the leading hitter going 2-3 on the day.
5/6 - EHT 5 Ocean City 1
Troy Sabott was sensational on the mound Monday picking up his 5th win of the season. His pitching line for the day. Complete game 7 innings, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 strikeouts. The Eagles led offensively by several players with multiple hits. Mike Baxter 3-4, 2B, 1 run, Jake Cagna 2-3, 2RBI, Eli Gordy 2-3, 2 RBI.
5/7 - Ocean City 5 EHT 0
Jake Cagna was 2-3 on the day.
5/9 - EHT 10 Oakcrest 0
Eagle tallied 10 hits led by Eli Gordy 2-3, Dennis Williams 3-3. Jake Cagna threw a complete game 5 inn shutout with 12 k's, only surrendering 1 hit.

11-5 over Haddon Twp
Nick Gargan scored his 100th goal Friday night at EHT’s win over Haddon Twsp. Six goals in the game for 101 total and counting.
GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL
Girls Flag Football moved one step closer to a division title by winning a defensive battle against Delsea 12-6 yesterday. The Eagles were led on offense by Presley Devivo and Gabby Piantadosi, and the defense was led by Taylor Rooney, Sam Reed, Daniela Ramirez, Kylie Wright, and Amari Pinkett. The girls travel to Washington Township on Monday for a tough matchup and then return home on 5/15 to play Pleasantville and to win the division title.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS
FERNWOOD TRACK AND FIELD
TRACK MEET UPDATE:
BOYS
The boys’ track team was running on all cylinders this Monday in a huge win over Atlantic City (65-17). The team continues to grow and improve with each meet.
Top Performers:

In the long jump, J.P. Jonathan Parker placed 1st and Ayaan Toseef took 3rd.

Jahiyd Mcclellan took 1st in the 100 with Milan Radosavljevic coming in 3rd.

Tim Rooney won the mile with another new personal best of 5 min and 36 seconds.

Again, Fernwood swept the 400. Sebastian Antonius won with a new personal best of 56.6 seconds. He is closing in on the school record. In 2nd was Keni Cruz and 3rd was Jacob Arreguin.

The boys swept the 200 as well. JP came in first, followed by Tyler Price in 2nd, and laying his body on the line Jeremy Cooke stole 3rd by a step. Amazing effort.

Anton Lavreniuk and Brayden Widas went one-two in the 800.

Our relay teams ran the best times of the season for wins in both the 4 by 100 relay (Tyler, Connor, Jeremy, and Anton) and the 4 by 200 relay (JP, Connor, Sebastian, and Jahiyd).

Franco Dente won the shotput and Tyler Ziegler placed 3rd.

Franco won the discus as well and Gregory DeSantis took 3rd.
****A big congratulations to Jahiyd Mcclellan for breaking the school record for the 100m with a time of 11.5 seconds! He and the rest of the 4 by 200 relay team have their hearts set on breaking that record too. Only 2 seconds away. Great job Jahiyd!
