ZESD 6 Teacher Awarded Educator of the Year
Educators from across Lake County gathered on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, to celebrate the exceptional contributions of education professionals at the annual Lake County Educator of the Year banquet. Hosted by the Lake County Regional Office of Education (ROE), the event honors the dedication, leadership, and inspiration that shape schools and enrich the lives of students throughout the region.
This uplifting evening brought together educators from all roles—alongside their families, friends, colleagues, and students—for a memorable celebration of excellence in education.
Among the outstanding nominees, Stacy Storey of Beulah Park Elementary School was named the 2025 Lake County Elementary/Childhood Educator of the Year. Ms. Storey, a physical education teacher and proud Zion native, has been a valued member of the Zion Elementary School District 6 team for the past seven years.

"I am truly humbled and blessed to receive this award," said Storey. "To be able to give back to the community where I grew up is a huge honor."
The evening highlighted the impact educators make every day in classrooms, hallways, and beyond—reinforcing their vital role in shaping future generations.

Lake County's Digital Growth Initiative
Have you heard of Lake County’s Digital Growth Initiative (DGI)?
Lake County is launching the Digital Growth Initiative to address the county’s digital divide, which is the gap between those who have access to high-speed internet and technology and those who do not.
This gap creates a barrier for residents to access employment opportunities, healthcare, schoolwork, transportation and so much more. The Digital Growth Initiative was created to find solutions and help residents access digital resources.
Learn more about the DGI on their website: lakecountyil.gov/4930
If you’re interested in getting involved or learning more, reach out to digitalnavigators@lakecountyil.gov.
