Dear Parents,
As we start November, it’s a great time to look ahead to the second marking period! With the first part of the school year behind us, everyone is getting used to their new routines, and we’ve learned so much already. November is perfect for setting new goals, catching up on anything we found tricky, and building on the great work we’ve done so far. With the Rock View staff here to help, this marking period can be an exciting chance to keep growing, learning, and having fun in class! Let’s make November a month to remember.
Looking ahead, we're excited to welcome families to our Open House on November 11th. This event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to engage with their child in learning activities specially designed by the grade-level team. Together, families can experience some of the fun and interactive ways students are learning in class. During the Open House, we’ll also hold two sessions focused on a schoolwide data review, where families can gain insight into overall academic progress, growth areas, and school goals for the year. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing all the wonderful work happening at Rock View.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on November 25th and 26th. These days are scheduled as half-days for students, giving teachers dedicated time to meet with families and discuss each student's progress so far this year. Conferences are a valuable opportunity to review strengths, share areas for growth, and set goals for the rest of the school year. Teachers will be reaching out to schedule conference times that work for each family, ensuring that we have time to connect and celebrate students’ achievements. We look forward to these meaningful conversations and to working together to support each student’s success.
Get ready for our upcoming Read-a-Thon taking place from November 11th - 22nd. This PTA-sponsored fundraiser is an exciting event that encourages students to dive into their favorite books and explore new stories, all while helping to raise funds for our school. Let’s make this Read-a-Thon an unforgettable adventure in reading!

We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Open House! Each grade level has planned a special activity to showcase the incredible learning happening in our classrooms, and we can’t wait for you to see firsthand what our students have been working on. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to engage with their learning experiences and celebrate their growth with us.
Please take a moment to review the flyer, which includes the designated times for each grade level’s Open House activities. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the exciting progress our students have made!

Read-A-Thon Bingo
We’re excited to introduce Read-A-Thon Bingo, a fantastic way to encourage reading at home, at school, or both! This interactive challenge allows students to explore various types of reading. They can listen to books, read parts of books, or tackle them in their entirety. Every minute spent reading for the Read-A-Thon Bingo can also be added to Read-A-Thon logs!
Paper copies of the Read-A-Thon Bingo card will be sent home when the Read-A-Thon begins, so keep an eye out! Students who complete the Read-A-Thon Bingo can bring it back to school to receive a small prize. We encourage you to participate together as a family, making reading a shared adventure. For more details, please click here to see the Read-A-Thon Bingo and directions.
Happy reading, and let the bingo fun begin!
Counselor Updates
Message from your counselors Ms. Miller and Ms. Davis,
We just had our first Character Education Celebration for our students of the month who have been showing Growth Mindset. This next month we will be going into classrooms to teach students about Perseverance.
Perseverance is the ability to keep trying and see something through to the end, even when faced with obstacles, difficulties, or failures. It's also sometimes called "grit".
This looks like facing challenges, trying again, and building confidence. We'll work on goal setting this month and persevering towards our goals. At the end of the month, our teachers will select new students who are showing Perseverance, and we will celebrate them!
