Cabell County Schools Students, Staff, and Families,

It's time to review calendar options for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years! Together with the Calendar Adoption Committee, the district has drafted three options for you to choose from for each year. The calendars vary in terms of start and end dates and duration and timing of breaks, while still meeting the requirements set out by WV Code, which can be found here: https://code.wvlegislature.gov/18-5-45/.

Option A:

• Mid-August start date on Wednesday (similar to recent years)
• OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 23
• Winter break begins Dec 24
• Spring Break in late March
• Professional Development/Faculty Senate on April 3
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 22

Option B:

• Mid-August start date on Wednesday (similar to recent years)
• OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 19
• Winter break begins Dec 20
• OSE in mid-March
• Spring Break in late March/early April (aligned with Easter) and is extended until April 6 with a Professional Development/Faculty Senate day
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 28

Option C:

• Later-August start date on Monday (later than recent years)
• NO OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 23
• Winter break begins Dec 24
• Spring Break in mid-March (aligned with Marshall University's spring break)
• Early Release for Faculty Senate on April 3
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 29

Option A:

• Mid-August start date on Thursday (similar time/different day as recent years)
• OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 22
• Winter break begins Dec 23
• Spring Break in late March (aligned with Easter)
• Early Release for Faculty Senate on April 9
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 25

Option B:

• Mid-August start date on Wednesday (similar to recent years)
• OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 22
• Winter break begins Dec 23
• Students return January 7 (one day later than options A and C)
• OSE in mid-March
• Spring Break in late March/early April (aligned with Easter)
• Early Release for Faculty Senate on April 23
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 28

Option C:

• Later-August start date on Tuesday (later than recent years)
• NO OSE in October
• Full week at Thanksgiving
• First semester ends Dec 23
• Winter break begins Dec 24
• Spring Break in mid-March (aligned with Marshall University's spring break)
• Outside Environment Day March 26
• Early Release for Faculty Senate on April 16
• Tentative last day for students, if weather permits, May 28
