Off to a great start!
Hello Panther Families! We started this school year off last week with fun, music and laughter in the halls. It's wonderful to have all the energy n the school and I know we're going to have a GREAT year!
Our ASB class is working on some exciting plans for this school year to increase school spirit and get more students involved in activities. They are leading a pep assembly on Friday Sept 6 and we are taking a student rooter bus to the football game on Friday 9/6 (it's free, students just need to get a permission slip); the bus leaves WP at 6 pm and returns students after the game. This return route will be just like practice busses with drop offs in Glenoma, Randle and Packwood.
Thank you to all the students who have been using our phone caddies during classes; we've already noticed an increase in engagement in classes. We also appreciate the parents who are helping reinforce this expectation. Phones can be a serious distraction in class and can even limit healthy student friendships. If there is an emergency, students will have ready access to their phones; they also will have access to their phones during passing times, before/after school and at lunch.
Student meals are free this year for all students; please be sure to complete the annual "Family Income Survey" (now online here if that's easier for you). This is what allows our district to provide not only free meals, but access to grants to support families with other costs such as sports, clubs, applications and more. This is confidential information and is only available to Mrs. Quintana. You only need to do this form ONCE per household.
Did you know that our GEARUP program provides FREE tutoring (and snacks) after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays? This begins on Oct 1 and there is bus transportation provided.

Fall sports are beginning!
There is still time to join our sports teams this fall! We offer football, volleyball, cross country and cheer for all Jr/Sr High students. Questions? Ask Ms Ruzicka!
High school football season starts Fri Sept 6 with the home game at Morton, 7 pm. Rooter bus available that takes students from WP to Morton and back after the game. JH football has their first game on Sept 12 at White Pass.
HS volleyball begins varsity matches on Sept 10 at White Pass. JH volleyball's first match is Monday, Sept 9 at Winlock.
Cross country's first meet is in Lacey on Sept 10.
